Under the administrative direction of the Director of Student Connection and Community (SCC) on the
Tempe Campus, the Associate Director of Student Connection and Community provides input and local
oversight for the design, administration, delivery, supervision and fiscal management of Student
Connection and Community as it relates to the Programming and Activities Board and University Student
Organizations. This includes efforts related to leadership programs, student events, clubs and
organizations and University wide events such as Fall Welcome, Family Weekend, Homecoming, etc.

Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS) is committed to enrolling all qualified students at

Essential Duties
Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM; This position is salaried and will minimally work a 40-hour work
week and requires availability on nights and weekends, as needed, for ASU programs and events. Work
location is primarily at the Tempe Campus; however, incumbent will be required to travel to other ASU
campuses and occasionally to off-campus events.

Essential Duties
- Participate in SCC strategic planning and provides local leadership for the planning,
- implementation, delivery and evaluation of programs and services, and reporting that are consistent with university and Educational Outreach and Student Service's mission and goals.
- Support Student Connection and Community and the Dean of Student's office at the Tempe Campus in creating a unique student experience on that campus. This includes participating in local meetings, supporting local initiatives and overall enhancement of the student experience.
- Assist with student organizational advising and support, through supervision of staff and advisement of students.
- Enhance the student experience in Tempe and University wide through advising and supervising staff who advise the Programming and Activities board.
- Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with members of the community and the community at large from diverse backgrounds.
- Advance student experiences to cultivate community, healthfulness, and skill building
- Support University wide events, such as Move in and Welcome Week, Homecoming and Family Weekend, InfernoFest and Devilpalooza concerts.
- Develop, maintain, and implement department policies and procedures.
- Participate in assessment efforts within the department, including basic tracking of activities, program evaluation, and measurement of learning outcomes.
- Make suggestions to resolve problems and issues affecting the department and directs measures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.
- Support SCC Director with contract responsibilities for major campus initiatives including performance related activities and strategic partnerships
- Accountable for fiscal issues related to Tempe Campus SCC, including budgeting, budget tracking, year-end forecasting, and development of new revenue streams.
- Develop and maintain strong, professional, interpersonal relationships with student leaders.
- Assist in the recruitment, hiring, training, development, supervision, evaluation of professional staff in the assigned areas, as appropriate, to ensure effective staff performance.
- Ensure the responsible planning and expenditure of fiscal resources in a manner consistent with all university policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
- Demonstrate role modeling, ethical decision-making, cultural competency, responsible management, and leadership for students through all actions and communications.
- Represent Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS) through attendance and active participation at campus, university and off-campus committees, events and programs.
