Job Purpose

Performs various accounting duties necessary for the efficient and effective operation of the accounting department.

Duties and Responsibilities
With the support of the Director of Accounting Services, manages the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement closing process.
Supervises and provides overall guidance to Associate Accountant.
Reviews and approves work performed by Associate Accountant.
Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals and providing training. Manage personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, execute performance plans where necessary, etc.
Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
Provide support to CFO, Director of Accounting Services, Director of Account, Director of Financial Planning and Analysis and other departments by answering financial and accounting questions, identifying solutions, providing financial information and ad hoc reports and other support as needed.
Leads the purchasing process, collaborating closely with departments to ensure compliance. Provides comprehensive training and continuously evaluates processes for efficiency improvements.
Oversees the expense reimbursement process in partnership with the associate accountant, ensuring compliance, timely submissions and ongoing evaluation to optimize the system for business needs.
Performs complex accounting calculations, which includes, but not limited to: accruals, deferrals, allocations.
Reconciles ticketing transactions to CRM and general ledger.
Reconciles box office show statements to CRM and general ledger.
Reconciles balance sheet accounts to ensure completeness and accuracy, making necessary adjustments as needed.
Provides backup for Associate Accountant.
Assists with preparation for annual financial statement audit by preparing various schedules and responding to auditor inquires.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education
BS/BA/BBA in Accounting required or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable skills may be acquired.

Experience
Minimum five years of experience in accounting.
Minimum four years of supervising.
Experience in a not-for-profit environment preferred.

Skills/Abilities
Advanced knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and general accounting procedures.
Excel skills must be at least intermediate, include tables, pivot tables, lookups and complex formulas and functions.
Strong knowledge of ERP systems, particularly Sage Intacct is preferred.
Experience with expense management, particularly Ramp is preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to appropriately prioritize tasks; strong organizational skills; high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to manage, direct and supervise staff.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work well within a team setting as well as with internal and external customers.

Compensation

$81,000 - $88,000 annually
