The Opportunity

This position works out of our Rogers, AR location in the Nutrition Division. Our nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow, to keeping adult bodies strong and active. Millions of people around the world count on our leading brands - including Similac, PediaSure, Pedialyte, Ensure, Protality and Glucerna- to help get the nutrients they need to live their healthiest life. This position reports to the Senior Category Management Team Lead and is responsible for providing coaching, training, and guidance to a direct report ensuring high customer satisfaction, as well as talent development of future leaders in Abbott's organization.

What You'll Work On

The Senior Category Analyst is accountable for working in collaboration Category Manager to develop winning category management solutions through objective insights, analysis, and recommendations which lead to enhanced category performance. The Senior Category Analyst will partner with the internal Category & Shopper Insight team to drive for category, shopper, and retailer insights to position Abbott as a "Thought Leader" with Walmart.

Responsibilities include providing advanced analytics, shopper and consumer insights, and category recommendations to Walmart merchandising team. Candidates must have excellent communication and organizational skills, the ability to identify and present recommendations and develop effective and accurate reporting tools.

Best in Class Category Management

  • Build Abbott equity and influence retailer as a category knowledge resource through best-in-class insights and strategy development.
  • Provide Category Manager and Team Lead with category recommendations and strategy support based on analytical insights across Walmart Category Captainships.
  • Ability to identify key business opportunities for the category at a macro and micro level, while providing category management expertise to assist in achieving customer-specific goals.
  • Deliver strategic and tactical initiatives aligned with Walmart merchant team direction.
  • Work seamlessly with teammates to deliver shopper insights understanding via Walmart specific insights and strategy opportunities.
  • Serve as knowledge resource and expert on category analytics, using Nielsen, Scintilla, and Numerator.


Analytical Expertise

  • Develop, optimize and maintain Walmart point of sale reporting, Scintilla and Nielsen reporting and analytics; support deep dives into business driver opportunities through category reporting and insights development.
  • Perform comprehensive Omni category reviews and POG build support, using Walmart-preferred metrics and industry analysis.
  • Develop, review and support programs that will increase category growth and drive Walmart share.
  • Maintain proficiency in the use of Abbott computer systems, space management software (JDA), Nielsen Workstation, account-specific data sources, Microsoft programs (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).


Retailer Support

  • Penetrate retailer at various levels to build relationships and influence decision making.
  • Coordinate activities to develop, present and implement category management initiatives.
  • Provide relevant category and shopper insights to drive assortment, distribution, category placement and aisle recommendations.


Required Qualifications
  • Ability to identify and utilize appropriate resources is required.
  • Interaction with Walmart merchandising team and have limited visibility with internal Abbott teams.
  • Advanced analytics, shopper and consumer insights, and category recommendations to internal and external customers.
  • Advanced knowledge of each retailer's structure, in market strategies, assortment and merchandising.
  • Ability to influence the customer at multiple retail levels.
  • Individuals must have the ability to identify and report findings, opportunities, and make recommendations; develop effective and accurate reporting tools.

The base pay for this position is
$75,300.00 - $150,700.00
