Position Scope/Summary
The Associate Chief Nurse Officer (ACNO) is responsible for the practice of nursing at the OSU Wexner Medical Center by ensuring consistency in the standard of nursing practice across all surgical and procedural settings. The Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) for Infusion Services and Accreditation will lead a team of highly skilled and motivated health care professionals. This role is responsible for all nursing care and practice related to clinical, educational and research activities for Infusion Services, and serves as an expert resource to provide insight and assure compliance with regulatory bodies including JCAHO, state (ODH), and federal guidelines. The ACNO supports sound fiscal and human resource practices and provides effective leadership in areas of responsibility to support the development and achievement of the organization's strategic plan inclusive of planning/facility design and renovations, human capital and workforce planning. This role is responsible for the practice of clinical staff serving as direct care nurses, nurse managers and directors across facilities. The Associate Chief Nursing Officer oversees Infusion Services at James Main campus, Brain and Spine, James Outpatient Care at West Campus, Stephanie Spielman Breast Center, Martha Moorehouse, Millrun, and any future sites where infusions services are delivered.
In addition, this position directs the hospital's operations & activities to comply with all accreditations, regulations, & licensing requirements for all health care sites & services across the continuum. Translates various accrediting, regulatory & licensing agency requirements into action plans to achieve positive survey/audit reviews and implement systems to effectively monitor compliance to standards & to implement new processes to meet new requirements. The ACNO serves as a professional resource throughout the health system to interpret Joint Commission standards, Ohio Department of Health, Center for Medicare regulations and other accrediting agencies applicable to the hospital and ambulatory environment. In addition to these regulatory bodies, the leader will be involved in the Commission on Cancer, and the accrediting bodies such as the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) and other voluntary disease accreditation programs supported by The James.
The scope of regulatory oversight includes all current and planned inpatient hospital beds (~500+ future), and all ambulatory sites including The James outpatient care, Stephanie Speilman Comprehensive Breast Center, Martha Morehouse Tower, New Albany, Dublin, Powell, all mammography regional sites, and all future provider-based locations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) or master's degree in nursing required, master's is required. Minimum eight years of leadership responsibility within a complex academic health care organization and with progressive experience in nursing. Current Ohio RN license required. Professional certification in Nursing Administration or clinical practice is desired with an expectation of attainment within 18 months of hire. Lean or Six Sigma training.
