POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Director is responsible for helping the Director manage the ITS Department. This includes overseeing the day-to-day operations, managing staff, and ensuring that the organization's technology systems are reliable, secure, and efficient. This also includes a high degree of interaction with GC departments, contractors, and vendors in developing technology-based business solutions to address organizational needs and priorities. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by ITS leadership.

COMPENSATION
  • Full-time exempt position with benefits
  • Remuneration Range: 92-108% ($86K - $101K annually)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the IT strategic plan.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the ITS Department, ensuring all systems are running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and service providers.
  • Lead IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget and scope.
  • Analyzes, plans, develops, tests and documents business solutions process and makes appropriate recommendations and assists others in testing products for quality assurance.
  • Consults with departmental and stakeholders as needed to understand their needs.
  • Oversees ITS support tiers and helps manage resources collaborating with ITS leadership.
  • Reviews policy and procedures for activities in department groups and recommends changes.
  • Assists with development of annual department budget and financial statements.
  • Assists in assessing and developing long-term strategic goals for business solutions including standards and guidelines for technical design, based on organizational goals and with GC departments and ministries.
  • Works with other global development church entities to develop and strengthen relationships, policies, standards, practices and other areas of software development as requested.
  • Identifies, recommends, and prioritizes new business solutions in conjunction with administration.
  • Identifies, prioritizes, and maintains awareness of current trends within the industry.
  • Helps evaluate and track professional development options and direction for ITS technical staff to ensure balanced growth in alignment with IT strategic plan.
  • Manages staff and engages when necessary to ensure department works closely with other ITS staff, in-house employees, consultants, vendors or engineers.
  • Develops, motivates, and evaluates assigned staff and ensures staff productivity and morale remain high.
  • Leads out in meetings and gives reports to appropriate committees as required.
  • Serves as back-up technical support to PC end-users as requested.
  • Must be a member in regular standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
  • Must maintain a regular and reliable work schedule.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in Computers, Mathematics, or related field required. Relevant college courses in Information Science desirable. Relevant successful work experience and/or certifications may be considered in lieu of academic requirements.
  • At least four or more years of full-time senior level management experience is required due to the broad level of expertise necessary to perform the job requirements. Appropriate ongoing training and certification will be encouraged.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of principles, policies and beliefs of the General Conference and the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
  • Maintains strong knowledge of employer's business applications (Laserfiche,SharePoint, etc) and computer environment such as O/S (Windows); Office Suites (MS Office); E-mail programs (MS Outlook); programming tools and other various off the shelf programs.
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve a variety of computer hardware and well-developed organizational skills in evaluating process and making needed changes.
  • Highly developed technical skills in computer desktop engineering.
  • Strong people skills in providing advocacy for functions performed and to maintain high levels of communications with subordinates, users, and superiors.
  • Ability to assist employees in a professional manner in analyzing and solving a variety of issues in a fast-paced highly technical environment.
  • Must be friendly, courteous, have strong English language communication skills, and be self-motivated with ability to complete tasks with little supervision.
  • Ability to perform administrative functions; develop long and short-term plans and programs to effectively evaluate work accomplishments; establish and maintain effective relationships with internal/external personnel.
  • Must possess advanced ability to effectively present facts and recommendations in English in oral and written form.
