The Opportunity:

Are you ready to take on a leadership role in Student Financial Services at the Pullman campus? As the head of Client Services, Outreach, and Communications units, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and managing these critical areas. You will oversee WSU system financial aid communication strategies, ensuring effective and timely dissemination of information. Your role includes supervising managers, supervisors, and team leads, directing and controlling program operations, and exercising independent judgment and discretion in decision-making.

In this position, you will provide collaborative leadership in training and professional development for the staff. You will work cooperatively with other teams on budget-related expenditures, hiring, personnel matters, and actively contribute to the development and implementation of strategic and long-range plans, goals, objectives, office policies, procedures, and practices. Your duties and responsibilities will support the vision, mission, and values of the office, as well as those of the Office of the Provost, Enrollment Management Division, and Washington State University.

Additional Information:

This is a full time (100 FTE), permanent position. Overtime eligibility will be determined upon final placement within the salary range.

Monthly Salary: $6,012.09 - $9,403.52 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
  • Positions require a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a related field which has included at least two (2) years of management experience. A Master's degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Tangible and demonstrated experience in enrollment management or student services programs, including a working knowledge of and experience in the development, maintenance and/or implementation of automated financial aid processes as part of an integrated student information system
  • High level leadership skills and demonstrative evidence of system wide communications/marketing/customer service experience.
  • Experienced in staff motivation, supervision, training, and employee relations. Ability to foster a collaborative leadership environment.
  • Proven evidence of excellent administrative skills including coordinating and project management, formulating new initiatives, identifying goals, problem solving establishing policy, and implementing regulations and systems planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications (verbal/written), and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate, guide, and assist diverse constituents.
  • Highly experienced in serving diverse client populations and well trained in best practices for handling customer relations and conflict resolution.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in relevant field.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Financial Aid software, including systems analysis, functional operations and knowledge of student administration module in an institution of higher education.
  • Experience with Washington State financial aid programs.
  • Experience with Slate software.
  • Working knowledge of integrated student services systems and other imaging/ scanning software operations.
  • Experience with WSU student services especially Admissions, Student Accounts, New Student Programs, Center for Advising/Career Development, Registrar, Global Campus, International Programs, Graduate School, Athletics, and Student Affairs and Administrative Services.
