Summary:
The Associate Director, Platform Biology role will play a key role in advancing City's platform technology by leading the development of novel RNAi trigger designs to optimize activity and specificity for the next generation of RNAi-based therapeutics. This role will drive efforts both internally and externally to advance City's RNAi platform with a focus on optimizing features of the RNAi trigger. . This role may include some lab-based work, with relevant techniques including but not limited to cell culture, molecular biology (qPCR, DNA/RNA extraction etc.), and biochemistry (enzyme kinetics, assay development, etc.).

Responsibilities:
- Lead innovation of next generation RNAi platform including integrating and advancing on our founder's results on novel RNAi trigger mechanisms
- Lead strategy to enable advancement of the City RNAi platform and novel RNAi trigger designs
- Establish and maintain interaction with academic founders and advisors
- Develop and maintain awareness of advancements in the oligonucleotide field and integrate findings into development of next gen RNAi platform
- Contribute to lab-based work as necessary to drive efforts to completion
- Manage 2-3 lab-based direct reports to execute on strategy (first 6 months)
- Collaborate with key content experts and core functions to enable advancement of RNAi trigger platform (e.g. chemistry, oligo synthesis, bioinformatics, HTS, etc.
Qualifications:
- PhD in biology, pharmacology, biochemistry or related field with 8+ years of post-graduate experience or MS with 13+ years of relevant experience
- Prior experience working in oligonucleotide drug development a must; in the field of RNAi a plus
- Proficiency in biochemical techniques to characterize RNA-protein interactions
- Familiarity with and ability to implement high-throughput techniques into research a plus
- Experience with external collaborations either academic or partner a plus
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a nimble and innovative environment
