Essential Duties
1. The Librarian 4 is expected to demonstrate excellence in meeting the position responsibilities, as defined by the job description and annual goals. 2. Required Education and Experience
Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited Library school and eight years of related experience. In selected instances, a post-graduate degree in a related discipline may be required or substituted for an MLS.

Position Focus:
Reporting to the Director for Collections & Scholarly Services, the Associate Director for Scholarly and Research Services contributes to the strategic vision and research initiatives of the law library and facilitates the growth of the library's scholarly services and communications, which includes an active and sophisticated faculty outreach component. Supervises a team which includes the Assistant Director of Reference and Faculty Research Librarian.
Scholarly Services: Oversees a comprehensive and robust research services support program for faculty, including the management of a faculty liaison program and a research assistant pool. Develops and implements initiatives to expose law faculty scholarship. Oversees and monitors Scholastica requests in conjunction with the Associate Director for Collections and Scholarly Services. Prepares library reports, including faculty bibliographies, citation surveys, and analysis. Keeps abreast of trends and communicates changes in scholarly publishing, intellectual property rights, and information technologies that impact access and preservation of scholarly information.
Research and Reference Services: Supervises the Assistant Director of Reference who in conjunction with a team of research librarians, facilitates the provision of reference and research services to the law school and university communities. Participates in reference and faculty liaison support. Works closely with the Associate Director for Foreign and International Law in the provision of research services in Anglo-American, international, and foreign law, both in-person and virtually. Organizes and manages a Research Assistant program to support research projects and initiatives. Supervises the work of research assistants, library interns, and fellows. Participates with other librarians in legal research instruction to first-year students. May develop and teach advanced legal research courses, depending on interest. May participate in library collection development activities depending on interest.
Law Archive Repository: Serves as Law Archive Co-administrator managing the operations of the preprints and papers repository maintained by the Lillian Goldman Law Library. Works closely with the Center for Open Science, Law Archive's technology partner to monitor and track developments related to stakeholder requests for improved and new features. Co-leads the Law Archive Steering Committee and Moderators Team. Monitors the Law Archive email inbox and responds to incoming inquiries as appropriate. Assists in the promotion of Law Archive through the development of guides and presentations. Updates Law Archive web pages hosted on the Lillian Goldman Law Library website as needed.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
JD from an ABA-accredited law school or foreign equivalent. A minimum of seven or more years of progressively responsible experience, five of which should be in a supervisory leadership role in an academic law library, research library or similar institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:
A minimum of 5 years of professional and supervisory experience in an academic law library or similarly situated environment. Demonstrated ability providing research and reference support in complex areas of legal research.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Demonstrated ability with current legal information technologies, publishing formats, databases, and legal research sources and techniques. Demonstrated teaching ability within a formal classroom setting, or in a similar environment.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Demonstrated ability functioning and leading in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment that emphasizes customer service and delivery of exemplary research and instructional services. Strong public services orientation.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively across units and with external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to think independently, consult appropriately, and solve problems.
