Essential Duties
1. Plans, coordinates and implements programs for a particular school or college in one or more of the following areas: financial aid, career services, and/or admissions. 2. Recommends short- and long-term administrative and department goals. 3. Determines student eligibility in one or more of the following areas: federal loan programs, school grants, job placement opportunities, and/or admissions. 4. Provides guidance, advice and counseling in one or more of the following areas: academic, admissions, career, and financial matters for students, faculty and prospective students. 5. Initiates, designs and implements operational systems to maintain and monitors student records and/or applicant records. 6. Reviews and approves all written material for publication or press release. 7. Organizes workshops and on and off campus recruitment events in one or more of the following areas: career services, admissions, and/or financial aid. 8. Supervises day to day operation of services; determines priorities and maintain workflow. 9. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and four years of experience in a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Position Focus:
Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Yale Study Abroad, the Associate Director is an integral member of the Yale Study Abroad team, which facilitates high quality, credit-bearing abroad opportunities for Yale College students, through both term-time and summer study and through both Yale College's own programs in Yale Summer Session (YSS) Programs Abroad and non-Yale study abroad programs at approved sites around the world.
While the role encompasses many aspects of the office's work, the Associate Director focuses primarily on student-related matters:
Provides expert academic and other advising to students about and enrolled in study abroad opportunities, both term-time and summer, including determining what impact a proposed course of study abroad will have upon the student's major and distribution requirements and other academic requirements to maintain academic good standing in and to graduate from Yale College.
Counsels students on the processes for seeking funding for study abroad opportunities.
Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of existing study abroad opportunities for Yale College students and seeks to create new opportunities, where needed.
Assesses the suitability of sites and courses for Yale College credit, i.e., whether an institution and specific courses meet Yale University standards and Yale College requirements.
Develops and executes a student recruitment strategy for study abroad (including creating and maintaining promotional materials and participating in study abroad informational sessions) in collaboration with the study abroad team, academic departments, the residential colleges, and other campus partners and with partner institutions.
Assists in maintaining and developing online and other resources related to study abroad, including the online study abroad application process.
Coordinates with the study abroad team to develop and maintain orientation and other informational resources for students, including delivering pre-departure sessions and communicating to students specific cultural imperatives for each study abroad location.
Contributes to risk management assessments of current and potential study abroad sites.
Maintains data related to study abroad and assists in the development and dissemination of quantitative and qualitative reports.
Assist in managing the office's application system in Yale Compass (Terra Dotta)
Manages general communications, forms, and reminders for students in the pre-departure, post-decision, abroad, and returnee phases of study abroad
Hires, Trains, and supervises student workers in providing overall office support, including study abroad outreach via social media and other means
Conducts site visits to Yale Summer Session programs abroad and provides detailed post-visit program evaluations, where appropriate.
Maintains a professional presence, stays current in the field, and participates in national study abroad meetings and regional conferences, where appropriate.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Licenses or Certifications:
Master's Degree in a relevant field. Four or more years of experience working in the field of international education. Proven experience in student advising and in living or studying abroad. Experience with Terra Dotta software system.
