Reporting to the General Counsel, Corporate Secretary & Chief Compliance Officer of the Company, the Associate General Counsel will be responsible for providing legal counsel and services to subsidiaries in one of the Company's two segments - Infrastructure Solutions ("IPS Group") - on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters. The chosen candidate will work directly with the business and support functions providing proactive legal support and counsel as well as leadership supporting senior management as "legal business partner" for the IPS Group. The AGC for IPS Group is a member of the senior leadership team and will support the Group's long-term business objectives consistent with the overall legal strategy of the Company.

Specific responsibilities include:
- Provide legal advice and counsel to IPS Group and legal and management stakeholders for various commercial transactions, including structuring, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements and working with the business to establish optimal standard contract terms with high-value/significant clients
- Help further the use of contracting playbooks, contract templates and clause libraries, legal process workflows, and other tools to help scale the legal function
- Managing and advising on pre-litigation matters/contractual disputes affecting the segment
- Assisting with rolling out compliance policies
- Assist in the establishment, implementation, and communication of formal policies, processes and procedures with respect to contract lifecycle management
- Collaborate with teams across Astec Industries, including sales, revenue operations, product, finance, procurement, and human resources
- Selecting and supervising outside counsel to provide critical support on complex legal and business issues, and liaising with internal stakeholders and third parties
- Provide legally sound, pragmatic and practical recommendations under tight deadlines
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and are currently licensed to practice law in your state of residence
- Minimum of 6 years of professional legal experience
- In-house corporate experience desired, law firm associates with relevant experience will also be considered
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Commercial contract experience highly preferred
- Legal experience in the manufacturing industry preferred but not required
- Ability to speak to your experience with customer agreements, including commercial terms such as limitation of liability, indemnity, confidentiality, choice of law, jurisdiction, and other commonly negotiated provisions
- A defined point of view on one or more of the commonly-negotiated provisions listed above
- Ability to balance competing legal and commercial concerns
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Precise drafting ability and issue spotting
- Ability to take ownership of projects from inception to successful conclusion
- Ability to work independently under high pressure situations and actively manage multiple matters simultaneously
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment with imperfect information
- Ability to deal confidently with internal business leadership, outside counsel, and external customers at all organizational levels
