Friedman Vartolo LLP is a rapidly growing New York based real estate and default services law firm with over 200 employees across six states. We are in looking for an In-House Associate General Counsel to guide in-house legal operations while assisting in the general operation of the firm.
THE POSITION
The Associate General Counsel will be responsible for monitoring legal and regulatory changes that impact our industry and will be tasked with weekly client legal change updates, internal updates, and drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts on behalf of the firm. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide legal advice on, compliance, risk management, and regulatory matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Oversee litigation strategy and manage outside counsel when necessary.
- Ensure firm policies and procedures comply with state and federal laws.
- Support internal teams with legal risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on industry regulations and trends.
- Advise on employment law issues, including hiring, terminations, and workplace policies.
- Assist in relevant business transactions when applicable.
- Address intellectual property concerns, including trademarks and confidentiality agreements.
- Liaising with senior members of staff
REQUIREMENTS
- JD or LLM required.
- 10+ Years of Legal Experience.
- Must be active and admitted in at least one U.S. Jurisdiction. Preference will be given to candidates admitted to the New York, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania state bar.
- Sound understanding and knowledge of real estate litigation. Preference will be given to candidates who have a default services background.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent negotiating and drafting skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships across the business.
- Ability to communicate complex legal issues and risks in terms that non-legal colleagues can understand.
- Ability to remain objective, discrete and exercise commons sense at all time
