JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the general supervision and direction of the TrAC Dean for Arts, Library, and Multimedia, the primary responsibility of this position is to perform a wide variety of professional library services, to oversee clerical and student workers, and to instruct in the use of the library resources and services at Main Campus but occasionally may be required to go to the South Campus at Mountain House.
The successful candidate will provide evidence of knowledge and understanding of the racial, socioeconomic, and academic diversity within community college populations; the candidate also will show knowledge and understanding of how these factors relate to the need for equity-minded and culturally-responsive practices in the community college setting.
Responsibilities and Duties
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide reference and information services to students, staff, and other library users in both face-to-face and virtual environments. Keep current with Library Service Platforms' trends and innovations and develop, troubleshoot and maintain the Library Services Platform including advancements in online environments, web page development, and online/database searching and management. Ensure database content appears correctly in the Discovery system, with updated and functional links to current periodicals, e-books, and streaming film database content. Teach library courses, deliver lectures, conduct orientation tours, and provide library-related workshops in both face-to-face and virtual environments. Participate in collection development and management by recommending books, periodicals, audiovisual software, databases, computer software, OER materials, and other library materials for purchase for the overall collection and for assigned TrACs. Provide recommendations for deselection as needed. Report to management any condition that might jeopardize the health or safety of students or the public. Assist students in achieving course objectives, evaluate student progress, and refer students in need of counseling or tutorial assistance. Track and maintain records of student learning outcomes. Participate in curriculum development, including curriculum review, modification, and assessment of student learning outcomes to ensure program success. Engage in departmental processes such as program review and resource allocation requests. Prepare bibliographies and LibGuides, advising library users on appropriate materials. Develop additional library resource guides for faculty and student use. Participate in the departmental evaluation of library service areas and functions, and make recommendations for improved policies, procedures, and services. Resolve issues and complaints related to library services. Plan, coordinate, promote, and oversee library events and functions. Participate in course evaluation and development, including the creation and revision of courses and course outlines. Attend faculty, TrAC, and other on-campus meetings as required. Assist in management and maintain inventory of equipment, materials, and supplies as assigned. Report any conditions that may jeopardize health or safety of students, staff, or the public to the TrAC Dean. Be familiar with and act in accordance with the Education Code and Board of Trustees' Policies and Procedures, and applicable American Library Association policies and guidelines. Perform other necessary duties as specified in the faculty contract and outlined in Board Policy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in Library Science, Library and Information Science, OR the equivalent. *

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated sensitivity to race, ethnicity, color, religious creed, sex, gender expression, gender identity, age, national origin, ancestry, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, military status, prior contact with the criminal legal system, or any other biases prohibited by law.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching strategies and techniques to different student abilities, learning styles, cultures, and groups mentioned above.
- Demonstrated experience teaching in a variety of settings, including but not limited to online, dual enrollment, and large lectures. A willingness to develop and utilize instructional materials, including lectures and labs for multiple modalities.
- Ability to use innovative and creative teaching techniques (lecture and labs) and equipment such as multimedia hardware, current applications, learning management systems, and online instructional strategies
- Demonstrated experience or knowledge of library technical services areas, including LSP/ILS management, cataloging and classification using OCLC, (Ex Libris Alma/Primo expertise particularly desirable).
- Experience as a librarian in reference work, course work, and experience in a wide range of professional services preferable at the post-secondary level or at a community college.
