We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Scientist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will assist in developing, validating, and transferring new tissue processing and cell sample preparation methods and/or cell pathway and signaling assays for cancer cells from various tissues. This role involves a range of responsibilities including cell culture, clinical study participation, and assay performance.
Responsibilities
This role is within a smaller company of about 70 people, with 30 individuals working onsite at the Plymouth location. The operations staff consists of 10 people, while the lab team has about 12 members. The work environment offers a family feel with employees wearing multiple hats and exposure to the executive team. The company values strong job tenure and promotes from within. The work hours are flexible, typically between 8-9 AM to 4-5 PM. Employees benefit from competitive HSA contributions and the opportunity to purchase shares worth up to 10% of their annual salary.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $100000.00/yr.

Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Scientist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will assist in developing, validating, and transferring new tissue processing and cell sample preparation methods and/or cell pathway and signaling assays for cancer cells from various tissues. This role involves a range of responsibilities including cell culture, clinical study participation, and assay performance.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, validation, and transfer of new tissue processing and cell sample preparation methods and/or cell pathway and signaling assays for cancer cells from various tissues.
- Culture and prepare consistent batches of human cells for assays.
- Participate in clinical studies, study set up, and generation of results.
- Perform assays to identify and sort cell types by biomarkers.
- Perform genotypic and pathway characterizations for human cells.
- Collaborate with science Directors to develop new assays or troubleshoot existing assays.
- Manage and organize laboratory resources, instruments, procedures, and protocols.
- Provide documentation control support, including cell assay R&D results records, specimen and results database, and procedures.
- Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
- 3-6 years of experience with cell-based assays in Oncology or Immunology.
- 3-6 years of experience developing assays using techniques such as qPCR, flow cytometry, automated western blot, RNA-seq, plate-based fluorescent/luminescent, impedance-based, metabolic profiling, oxygen consumption, and imaging.
- Proficiency in cell culture, report writing, data analysis, and assay development.
- Experience in a medical laboratory or biotechnology setting consistent with the job duties and responsibilities.
- Ph.D. with experience developing activity-based live cell assays for small molecules, OR Master's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience developing activity-based live cell assays for small molecules, OR Bachelor of Science degree with a minimum of 8 years of industry experience developing activity-based live cell assays for small molecules.
- Advanced Degree preferred in Bioengineering, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Oncology, or Translational or Systems Medicine.
- Excellent organization skills capable of managing basic lab functions, documenting, and managing complex processes in a punctual manner.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out human cell experiments independently.
- Practical knowledge about human cell culture for performing live cell assays.
