The opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, Insurance & Wellington-Altus Group Solutions (WAGS), the Associate Vice-President, Wellington-Altus Insurance Inc is for providing insurance-based solutions to WA advisor teams and their clients. This role is responsible for the administration, operations, business development and communication aspects of WAII. The Associate Vice-President, Wellington-Altus Insurance Inc will play an integral role in providing values-added services to WA advisory teams concerning the risk and insurance needs of their clients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and supporting new business revenue through sales to new and existing clients.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor and the primary point of contact for insurance related inquiries.
  • Managing the complete insurance sales process for recommended solutions.
  • Collaborating with internal resources to maximize client opportunities and align with sales goals.
  • Recognizing and fostering intergenerational wealth management utilizing insurance amongst WA advisory teams and their clients
  • Providing risk and insurance professional services when requested.
  • Building long-lasting relationships with clients based on trust and exceptional service.
  • Overseeing the onboarding on new WA insurance advisors with WAII
  • Compiling risk and insurance educational content and deliverables for WA advisory teams and their clients.
  • Overseeing, maintaining and promoting WAII's relationship with their MGA, PPI.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to WAII and AWPG team members, WA advisory teams and their clients when reviewing existing and potential insurance documentation and planning.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with risk and insurance carriers.
  • Overseeing and collaborating with PPI and AWPG team members in providing risk and insurance training and education initiatives for WA Advisory teams
  • Assisting the WA Finance team with insurance commission reconciliations from PPI and external insurance carriers.
  • Collaborating and work closely with clients; other professional advisors in the spirit of contributing to a holistic wealth experience.
  • Ensuring all insurance transactions comply with regulatory standards and maintain proper documentation.
  • Proactively maintain current and in-depth knowledge of life, critical illness, disability, group insurance and related planning areas.
  • Monitoring legislation and regulation changes and coordinate any required changes to products and identify sales opportunities
  • Understanding competitive offerings to be able to position products effectively in the market.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.


The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in finance, business, economics or a related discipline.
  • 2-4 years' experience in an insurance advisor/consultant/specialist role.
  • 2+ years' financial services industry experience working in a high growth environment.
  • 2+ years' experience in a customer/client-service facing role.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in the wealth management or other regulated industry is a strong asset.
  • Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) required.
  • Certified Health Insurance Specialist (CHS) a strong asset.
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist Program (CEBS) an asset.
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) an asset.
  • Proficiency with the MSOffice suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrate a high level of accountability, reliability, adaptability, and innovation in accomplishing day to day work and long-term goals.
  • Excellent attitude and commitment to providing extraordinary service.
  • An excellent attention to detail.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and influencing skills; an ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively, across multiple mediums (in-person, over the phone, and virtually).

Conditions of employment:

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to travel 5% of the time.
