This position is part of the Digital Engineering Platforms team and is focused on technical and discipline stewardship. The role provides leadership and oversight across various aspects of the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The position will drive technology development, knowledge sharing, and support for activities related to all CMMS processes. These processes encompass the creation, management, and optimization of maintenance data, including assets, locations, work orders, job plans, preventative maintenance, data sheets, MRO and Mobile suite functionalities-all within the IBM Maximo platform.

This role will also contribute to the continuous improvement of CMMS practices, ensuring the integration of best-in-class methodologies to enhance operational efficiency, data integrity, and system functionality within the organization.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:
  • Technical Leadership: Provide global technical support for Maintenance Engineering using IBM Maximo CMMS, optimizing processes such as Maintenance Materials Management, Equipment Reliability, Preventive Maintenance, Planning/Scheduling, Performing Maintenance, Calibration, and Metrology in line with pharmaceutical industry standards.
  • Collaboration: Partner with internal and external teams to guide discipline activities, oversee the maintenance community, develop new technologies, create and maintain Engineering Standards and Best Practices, and mentor engineering/maintenance staff.
  • Maximo CMMS Optimization: Support ongoing enhancement and effective utilization of IBM Maximo CMMS, working with Tech at Lilly to deploy system updates and ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
  • Consultation and Support: Offer technical consultation to global and site engineering and maintenance teams, such as technical evaluations, maintenance assessments, and specific problem resolution including troubleshooting, root cause analysis and productivity enhancements to improve maintenance effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Support for Manufacturing Sites: Contribute to both new and existing manufacturing sites in optimizing IBM Maximo CMMS for their specific needs, ensuring alignment with global maintenance standards and industry requirements.
  • Community Engagement: Contribute to the IBM Maximo Community of Practice and the Global Maintenance Leadership Forum, promoting best practices, technological innovation, and Maximo adoption of existing and new functionalities across the organization.
  • Data and System Improvements: Develop dashboards, metrics, and training materials to support efficient maintenance and repair activities. Drive improvements in Maximo functionality to enhance data integrity and operational efficiency and excellence.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all regulatory and corporate policies, promoting safety, quality, and operational excellence in all maintenance activities.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's in Engineering or related STEM-field with a minimum of 5 years of experience OR equivalent work experience in maintenance/engineering (plant and/or reliability) (10+ years)
  • Experience with CMMS (preferably IBM Maximo, is highly preferred.)
  • Knowledge of GMP, GLP, CMMS, and Maintenance & Repair processes, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Maximo, SAP, Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Tableau, PowerBI, and other tools used for data analysis.


Additional Preferences:
  • CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional) and/or PE (Professional Engineer) is a plus.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience in successfully leading multi-disciplinary teams to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Problem-Solving & Agility: Strong problem-solving skills, learning agility, and the ability to manage tasks independently with minimal supervision.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information effectively.
  • Independence: Ability to work independently and be a self-starter, capable of handling responsibilities with minimal direct supervision.
  • Influence & Collaboration: Ability to influence stakeholders and drive business results while fostering collaboration and teamwork.
  • Team Environment: Focus on site support, while promoting a strong Team Lilly culture and contributing to team success.


Other Information:

Requires some international travel to European and Puerto Rican sites and some domestic (U.S.) travel (10-20%).

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$64,500 - $140,800

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
