Position Summary

The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep & Occupational Medicine is seeking an Associate/Full Professor of Medicine. This is a Full-Time Tenure-Track position. Both clinicians and non-clinicians are encouraged to apply. All faculty will be expected to conduct high-quality research. Clinical faculty would practice at the Academic Health Center (AHC) hospitals including Methodist, University, and Eskenazi in Asthma and Critical Care. Faculty would be eligible for an Endowed Chair. Start-up funding would be provided to ensure your research efforts and goals are met.

The core responsibilities of this position will be to work with divisional leadership to develop an established severe asthma translational research program based at the AHC. The goal is to develop a tertiary, comprehensive program that meets referral demands, provides research opportunities for faculty and trainees, and supports clinical trials. This position is ideal for a highly motivated and collaborative researcher or clinician/researcher with a track record of research excellence and funding in areas related to severe asthma and airway biology.

Recognized as one of the top programs of its kind in the country, faculty physicians within the Indiana University School of Medicine's Division of Pulmonary Medicine provide general pulmonary and critical care services at clinical sites across Indianapolis while training the next generation of pulmonologists.

Basic Qualifications
  • Doctorate or Terminal degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, leadership, and long-range program development
  • Expertise equivalent to an appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor


Desired qualifications: to be successful in this position, candidates should have all of the following:
  • A history of independent extramural funding
  • Published record of scholarly achievement and scientific productivity
  • Experience mentoring faculty and trainees
  • The skills and vision required to recruit talented scientists, and to cultivate interdisciplinary research
  • Demonstrated expertise in identifying and securing research support from diverse sources such as government or private organizations.
