The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria seeksa doctoral-level psychologist to join the Department of Psychiatry andBehavioral Medicine. This full-time position at the rank of Assistant orAssociate Professor is ideal for individuals seeking an academic position thatallows for clinical practice, teaching, program development, administration,and scholarship.

Seated in medical education, our department has developed acompetitive psychiatry residency training program with an emphasis onpsychotherapy training. The faculty member will provide clinical supervisionfor our well-established Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) resident trainingclinic and educational opportunities in assessment, differential diagnoses, andpsychological treatments of various psychiatric disorders. Specific areas ofexpertise sought include Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance andCommitment Therapy (ACT), or other mindfulness-based behavior therapies,behavioral health interventions, supervision of resident psychotherapy clinics,and administrative skills.

The position provides numerous advancement opportunities inleadership and administrative roles within a robust healthcare system anduniversity setting. These include the development of a clinical psychologyfellowship and/or internship, Center for Wellbeing directorship, expansion ofchild and adolescent services, and spearheading collaboration with communitypartners in other areas of departmental growth. Candidates should share ourvalues for high-quality patient care, education, and the promotion of scholarlyactivity.

The responsibilities of the position include clinicalsupervision, teaching, direct patient care, oversight of program curriculum andoperations, promoting a culture of excellence, recruitment, evaluation, andscholarly support. Interest in the development of an APA-approved clinical psychologyinternship and/or fellowship is also highly valued. Other duties will betailored to the interest of the applicant and include opportunities in outpatienttherapy, child and adolescent services, testing, community outreach, and wellbeingservices. Minimum requirements include PhD, PsyD, EdD in Psychology orsimilar doctoral degree and Licensed Clinical Psychologist or eligible in thestate of Illinois. Competitive salary and benefits are commensurate with rank.

Position Summary
The clinician-educator faculty member will work with the Department Chair and other psychology faculty members to develop outpatient and community-based psychological services and provide education to medical students and resident physicians consistent with the mission of the department for clinical care, education, scholarship and outreach.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Clinical supervision and classroom teaching of medical students, psychiatry residents, and other healthcare learners
  • Direct patient care
  • Development and leadership of a clinical psychology fellowship and/or internship
  • Function as a University faculty member, performing such duties as are appropriate to academic rank and position


Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD, PsyD, EdD in Clinical Psychology or similar doctoral degree
  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist or eligible in the state of Illinois

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in evidenced-based therapies
  • Experience in administration and educational program development
