What you will be doing:

This role is ideal for individuals with expertise in financial oversight, audit management, and Medicaid program integrity. In this position you will:
  • Serve as Alaska's Medicaid Program Integrity Office manager, coordinating Medicaid audit and program integrity activities and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Manage and oversee Medicaid quality assurance and audit activities for the Department of Health, including management of provider overpayment recovery, sanctions, and self-audit programs.
  • Supervise and direct audit staff and oversee audit programs, including recovery audits and federally required audits, such as PERM, ARRA, and HITECH audits.
  • Act as the primary liaison with other agencies on audit-related matters, coordinating closely with the Department of Law's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, federal oversight agencies, and CMS Medicaid Integrity Contractors.
  • Lead agency communications, presenting audit findings, recommending corrective actions, and ensuring departmental compliance with audit recommendations.

  • Financial Systems: Knowledge of the standards, architecture, and specifications of automated financial systems, including source documents, system flows, system interfaces, and related internal controls.
  • Organizational Awareness: Knows the organization's mission and functions, and how its social, political, and technological systems work and operates effectively within them; this includes the programs, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the organization.
  • Leadership: Influences, motivates, and challenges others; adapts leadership styles to a variety of situations.
  • Manages Human Resources: Plans, distributes, and monitors work assignments; evaluates work performance and provides feedback to others on their performance.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Certification as a Certified Public Accountant;

And/or

Post-secondary education in accounting, public administration, business administration or a closely related field that includes or is supplemented by 16 semester hours/24 quarter hours in accounting and 3 semester hours/4 quarter hours in auditing;

And/or

Progressively responsible professional experience performing the full range of audit functions that includes examination of agency operations and internal, management, fiscal and accounting controls, and serving as an auditor-in-charge, leading a team of lower-level auditors performing full scope audits.
