Job Description:

This role is to support the California High-Speed Rail (CAHSR) Project to optimize data management, automation, and digital workflows. This role will focus on structuring, managing, and validating data throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with ISO 19650, ISO 55000, industry best practices and other relevant industry standards. The position will play a key role in developing automation strategies, enhancing data synchronization, and supporting the integration of different platforms, including but not limited to Bentley iTwin, ProjectWise, e-builder, Project Sight, SharePoint, openrail, openroads and Civil 3D, ensuring successful information exchange and alignment with both internal processes and client interactions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Automating Tasks for Efficiency and Consistency
  • Develop and implement automation strategies and implement solutions for repetitive tasks, data transfers, information exchange within the digital environments, ensuring greater efficiency and standardization in model development, information exchange and data management.
  • Development and deployment of automated model checkers for Bentley and Autodesk software authoring tools.
  • Development and deployment of integration strategies in between the authority and STJV tools.
  • Identifying Automation Opportunities:
  • Identify emerging trends and best practices to enhance automation modeling, data management to improve project efficiency and innovation.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify automation opportunities, evaluating manual processes that can be optimized through digital tools, scripts, or specialized software, enhancing productivity and ensuring seamless interaction between internal teams and clients.
  • Conduct research and development efforts to explore new automation possibilities and API integration of various software platforms, including but not limited to Bentley iTwin, OpenRoads, ProjectWise, ProjectSight, E-buider, MicroStation and Civil 3D, to explore new automation possibilities and improve integration across systems in the Common Data Environment.
  • Prepare the documentation of API integrations and automation workflows for improved cross-platform data consistency
  • Developing and Maintaining Custom Automation Tools
  • Develop and maintain custom scripts and automation tools to streamline Digital Delivery processes, improving the functionality of the software used in the projects.
  • Development and execution of clash detection workflows using Bentley tools.
  • Generation of detailed issue reports with recommended resolutions for BIM teams.
  • Supporting designers in Data Accuracy:
  • Provides support to designers in resolving data-related issues, ensuring that data is accurate, comprehensive, and well-structured to meet project standards.
  • Support the creation of Exchange Information Requirements (EIR) and Asset Information Requirements (AIR) to align with ISO 19650.
  • Prepare reports on data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project standards.
  • Training Teams on Best Practices in Data Management and Automation:
  • Train team members on best practices for data management and automations, ensuring they understand the necessary procedures and tools to optimize their workflows in the project.
  • Development of training guides and documentation on best practices for automation, data structuring, and interoperability.


Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, or a related field. A master's degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., IAM, CAMA) are preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in automation, with expertise in BIM and digital delivery.
  • Proficiency with automation software (e.g., Dynamo, Python, JavaScript), CDE Platforms management and BIM authoring tools. Strong understanding of the ISO 19650 series (Information Management).
  • Strong communication skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier

Working Conditions and Environment:

This position will require general supervision and will have to use independent judgment within established guidelines. Generally, uses the advanced knowledge to analyze, interpret, or make deductions from varying facts or circumstances. Will need the ability to establish rapport quickly with others working on the same project and be able to promote a positive team environment. Working knowledge of dealing with a diverse population while using tact, diplomacy, and respect.
