Description
  • Develop the electrical architecture for our automated sewing cells
  • Evaluate, test, and integrate automation hardware & software into the control systems of our sew heads, robots, and PLC's
  • Advance Inteva's real-time surface feature scanning and motion control technology
  • Use robot simulation and offline programming tools to evaluate technologies and designs and to implement new customer products in our processes
  • Develop new sensor/actuator subsystems to support sewing technologies
  • Package sewing head controls systems
  • Configure, program, calibrate, and troubleshoot industrial robots for sewing applications
  • Develop and maintain detailed BOM's and user/training manuals
  • Provide new equipment specifications and equipment quote requests
  • Assist in the build, install & startup of automated sewing equipment and robot cells
  • Travel is required both domestically and internationally to support the business, normally about 5% and up to 30% during deployments, although this is an estimation and may increase or decrease depending on the needs of the business.


Position Requirements

Required
  • 5 years robotics programming experience (KUKA, FANUC, ABB, etc.)
  • 5 years' experience specifying and integrating sensors and actuators into automation systems
  • Simulation/offline programming experience (Robotmaster, Roboguide, Octopuz, etc.)
  • Structured programming language experience (C, C++ in MS Visual Studio, Beckhoff, etc.)
  • Source code management experience
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, a demonstrated ability to solve complex system issues
  • Willingness to travel to support plant launches
  • Willingness to build expertise in industrial sewing
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Must possess the ability to multi-task and bring multiple projects to completion on time and on budget


Preferred
  • Experience with multiple robot manufacturers
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens systems
  • Laser vision system experience
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, Modbus, PROFINET, etc.)
  • Experience with real-time operating systems
  • Experience with motor interfacing, motor sizing, torque/speed calculations, and gearbox selection
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of automotive interiors part constructions and designs (instrument panels, consoles, door trims, etc.)
  • Hands-on Sewing experience (particularly chainstitch sewing)
  • Knowledge of sewing machines, threads and materials
  • Problem solving certification
  • Communication skills in Spanish
  • A collaborative personality, enjoy working in a team-oriented environment


Education Requirement
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required with a Concentration in automation, control systems, or robotics; Master's degree in engineering (Electrical/Controls) preferred
