Automation Engineer - Level 2 Systems (Multiple Openings)
SMS group Inc. seeks an Automation Engineer - Level 2 Systems (Multiple Openings) to work in Pittsburgh, PA, responsible for developing, designing, and supporting engineering solutions aimed at implementing and modernizing new software-intensive Level 2 automation systems for SMS group Inc.'s metallurgical plants and flat rolling mills. Specific responsibilities include: (i) developing, deploying, and servicing Level-2 Automation systems based on user needs, software requirements, system specification and design; (ii) performing system/software engineering activities including implementation (design and coding), testing, deployment, and documentation; (iii) commissioning complete Level 2 system delivered to manufacturing facilities, including process data analyses, systems trouble shooting, customer relations, system monitoring and turning; (iv) collaborating with individuals and teams engineering departments in the U.S. and in SMS's world-wide operations, as well as, with customers and suppliers to provide engineering solutions on technical and project-related matters; (v) training personnel on the use and management of the automation system as well as creating operator's and systems maintenance manuals; (vi) managing various software development tools, team collaboration tools, and office application suites; and (vii) servicing existing systems to ensure that systems meet specified performance standards.
Must possess, at a minimum, a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering or a directly related field.
Must know (from any completed university-level coursework, seminars, workshops, or real-world, hands-on experience): object oriented programming; algorithms and data structures; use of C#.NET, Java, or C++; Relational Databases (PostgreSQL or SQL Server); and analysis and design of software solutions.
Must be able and willing to travel domestically to various unanticipated employer and client locations up to 15%.
