As an Automation Engineer on the Scotia Wealth Investment Platform (SWIP) team, you'll gain hands-on experience working on a mission-critical trading and portfolio management system used by investment advisors across Canada. This role offers exposure to full-cycle software development within an Agile environment, with a strong focus on test automation, continuous integration, and delivery (CI/CD).

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA teams to understand new features, system requirements, and workflows within SWIP.
  • Design, build, and maintain automated test scripts for web and backend components using modern tools and frameworks.
  • Execute test automation during CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and delivery.
  • Analyze automation results, log defects, and participate in root cause analysis for test failures.
  • Contribute to building scalable automation frameworks that support regression testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing for trading and portfolio management functions.
  • Ensure quality standards are met and help reduce manual testing cycles through smart automation strategies.
  • Build and maintain automated test suites using industry-standard tools and programming languages.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • A recent degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Solid programming knowledge in languages such as Java and JavaScript.
  • 5+ years of experience in creating test framework using Selenium Webdriver and Playwright is a must.
  • Knowledge in RestAssured, Postman, or similar is good to have.
  • Understanding of software testing principles (unit, integration, regression, UAT).
  • Interest or experience in financial systems, especially trading platforms or portfolio management applications, is an asset.
  • Experience with Git, Jenkins, Jira, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, eagerness to learn, and a team-oriented mindset.
