We're hiring: An Automation Specialist

Cummings has grown this year by adding 300 committed new hires to our family... and the number is growing! We support our services, construction, and manufacturing businesses by hiring electricians, project managers, service account managers, engineers, estimators, and designers, among others. The Automation Specialist will be an integral part of the organization. An Automation Specialist must have extensive knowledge in the controls and automation processes in an industrial facility or site. This position is responsible for the planning, design, and programming of control systems. These systems include motor control, PLCs, instrumentation, variable speed AC and DC drives and electrical power distribution. Industries include data centers, water/wastewater, oil and gas and renewable energy.

Responsibilities

Bring your passion, here's what's needed:
  • Collaborates with strategic Account Managers, Project Managers and Estimators to assess potential projects and submit proposals.
  • Interprets construction drawings and specifications for electrical, P&IDs, motor control, relay control and PLC design to communicate with customers and design team to better understand project objectives.
  • Understanding of electrical theories, principles, basic relay logic and writing specifications.
  • Develops PLC programs in Function Block, Structure text, Ladder, and other languages.
  • Develops Control strategies, I/O list, Bill of Materials, test plans for control panels and automated systems.
  • Oversee/Perform Quality Assurance of completed control panels in the panel shop.
  • Preforms internal and customer witnessed Factory Acceptance Test.
  • Preforms on site commissioning of control panels.
  • Train customers on use and operation of control system and software.
  • Understand and incorporate feedback from panel designer, panel manufacturing, electricians, and installers to modify drawing package as needed.
  • Respond to service calls to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair control system and programming.
  • Communicate with vendors, engineers, owners, service managers and other contractors to assure jobs will be completed within the scope and budget.
  • Mentor and train less experienced Automation Specialist.
  • 25% Travel to job sites may be required.

Compensation: 60-110K Annually (Compensation will be commensurate with experience)
