Lumenance is searching for an experienced automotive seat design engineer. This is a contract design engineering position using CATIA V5/V6 to design automotive seat assemblies and related components for Honda R&D.
Duties and Responsibilities
Requirements
* 4-year degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related discipline
* Above average ability to use CATIA V5 to design plastic, stamped, and machined parts and mechanical assemblies
* Solid grasp of mechanical engineering principals and methods used in the design automotive seats
* Able to professionally interface and communicate with other functional areas (electrical, body, testing, etc) to ensure their design constraints are understood and properly considered when designing assigned components and assemblies
* Able to provide manager and team members with accurate estimates for assigned task duration, along with confidence levels and foreseeable dependencies.
* Able to independently manage one's own work schedule and communicate with management and project leadership should additional time or resources be needed to complete one's assigned tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Independently design professional, manufacturable, cost effective automotive seat assemblies, mechanisms, frames, and related components.
- This includes:
- Interfacing with other engineers and management to ensure design requirements are understood.
- Development of designs in 3D in accordance with industry standards for the design of automotive seats and related sub-assemblies and components - Ensuring all designs conform to physical, manufacturing, and regulatory (FMVSS) requirements.
- Development of clear, readable drawings conforming to automotive industry drafting standards.
- Interfacing with suppliers and final assembly to address Design for Manufacturability issues
- Assist one's manager and/or team leaders in preparing project plans, budgets, and schedules.
- Participate in design reviews - includes development of presentation and report material required to effectively communicate technical and project related concepts.
