Job Summary

The AVP, Closing is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of the Closing team, ensuring a smooth and efficient loan closing process. This role involves conducting final loan reviews, managing the team's pipeline, and ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations. The AVP, Closing works to maintain high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory adherence while providing leadership and support to the Closing team. Strong attention to detail, compliance expertise, and the ability to optimize workflows are essential for success in this role. This role reports directly to the EVP, Operations.

Job Duties
  • Monitor the loan pipeline and implement smooth processes for the assignment and support of loan closings. Ensure excellent customer service and compliance with Company policies, and Federal & State regulatory standards.
    • Ensure accuracy, timely service, and good communications with stakeholders
    • Ensure closing processes and procedures are well defined, documented and clearly communicated
    • Maintain updated information on all policies and modifications to the guidelines and standards of the Company. Comply with Federal, State and local legal requirements.
  • Recommend and implement changes in settlement procedures as necessary.
  • Review loan files to ensure all conditions of loan approval and funding conditions have been met and cleared by Underwriter and Funder.
  • Responsible for the transfer of files to the Post-closing department within required timeframes.
  • Develop and communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to drive for continuous improvement.
  • Communicate Company goals and objectives to the Closing team so that team members can translate these into individual goals and priorities.
  • Communicate team needs, successes, and opportunities for improvement to the Operations Manager in regular connections
  • Work with Human Resources to plan and manage appropriate staffing levels given actual and anticipated demand, attract and hire new staff, coach and develop others, ensure pay, bonus, and recognition programs are effective to attract and retain staff, ensure proper recording of overtime and leaves within the department, and address performance issues as needed.

Work Environment

This role operates in a professional, yet flexible, work environment. This role will require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, headsets, etc.

Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of mortgage banking experience
  • 2 to 4 years of leadership experience
  • Encompass experience preferred
  • Must have working knowledge, or the ability to learn all operating systems and possess the ability to facilitate training.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
  • Confident and enthusiastic about learning new systems as needed
  • Self-motivated, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Accepting of change and makes suggestions for change
  • Compliance focused with a customer service mindset


Physical Demands
