Purpose:
The AVP, Compliance will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Credit Union's Compliance Management System to manage compliance risks, enhance effectiveness, build efficiencies, and ensure alignment with enterprise strategy and risk appetite. Purpose:
The AVP, Compliance will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Credit Union's Compliance Management System to manage compliance risks, enhance effectiveness, build efficiencies, and ensure alignment with enterprise strategy and risk appetite. The AVP, Compliance will serve as a liaison to business units across the three lines of defense to identify and mitigate compliance risk
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Credit Union's Compliance Management System. Oversee compliance risk management framework and methodologies to ensure consistency with the compliance risk appetite.
- Design and oversee the regulatory compliance testing program and ensure that compliance risks are adequately addressed. Schedule, plan, provide direction, and review the work of the Compliance Department Team Members.
- Communicate and report compliance testing results and emerging compliance risks to the VP of Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance Committee, and Risk Management Committee.
- Oversee the review of forms, disclosures, notices, advertisements, and promotions to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations. Oversee the review of Credit Union projects and new product initiatives for conflicts with regulatory requirements and guidance, and advise executive stakeholders of potential compliance risks.
- Maintain relationships and effective communication with department managers and executive management to influence strong compliance standards and consideration of compliance risk.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the Credit Union on all regulatory compliance matters and be able to relate potential compliance risks to specific internal, business functional, and organizational challenges. Communicate complex topics in easily understandable language to audiences at all levels of the organization. Partner with business units to develop practical solutions to meet compliance requirements and mitigate compliance risks.
- Establish and communicate the vision, goals, and expectations of the Compliance Team to deliver exceptional service. Facilitate critical thinking and draw out meaningful insight from the Team to help establish the Compliance Department as a trusted advisor and partner to the various business units across the Credit Union.
- Ensure Compliance Team is appropriately staffed and balance project needs with Department needs to develop sufficient resources for the Department. Coach, mentor, and develop Team Members by imparting knowledge, skills, and experience. Serve as a leader in recruiting and retention efforts for the Compliance Department.
Requirements:
Education and Training:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field or a combination of training, education, and experience is required. NCCO, CUCE, CRCM, or equivalent credit union or banking compliance certification required.
Prior Experience:
- 8-10 years' experience in regulatory compliance in a financial institution; 5 years' demonstrated leadership experience, including building, developing, and managing high performance teams.
Schedule:
- Full Time during department hours of operation
- Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm.
