Position Summary: AVP, Credit Officers coordinate the analytical and credit approval functions for the Bank's larger and most complex credits with minimal supervision. They will have a thorough understanding of the Bank's risk appetite and structuring deals. This position assists the lenders with the preparation and underwriting of C&I and commercial real estate loan proposal packages as well as analyzes business and personal financial statements to assess the credit worthiness of the Borrower and/or Guarantors. AVP, Credit Officers also act as a mentor for junior and senior analysts as well as more junior lenders. It is expected that the AVP, Credit Officers will take a pro-active approach in portfolio management as well as participate in projects to improve processes within the Bank.

Essential Job Functions:
Underwrite the Bank's most complex commercial loan requests (C&I, CRE and Business Acquisition) for new and existing Borrowers. This includes reviewing, spreading and analyzing a Borrower and Guarantor tax returns/financial statements, business and personal credit bureaus, cash flow, sources of repayment, collateral, industry, potential risks and mitigants and providing suggestions on loan structure when appropriate.
Complete tax return, personal financial statement and financials spreads in Loan Vantage (Jack Henry product)
Perform annual reviews and/or renewals of commercial loan relationships and verify risk ratings
Review third party appraisal reports, environmental reports, business valuations, and field exams prior to loan closing, and advise on any vendor recommendations
Manage monitored lines of credit and review Borrowing Base Certificates and A/R agings to ensure funding is within approved guidelines
Attend customer site visits with lenders (if based locally)
Attend weekly Credit Committee and Loan Structure meetings and take minutes when required
Mentor and train junior and senior analysts
Maintain a high level of quality control and adhere to State, Federal and Bank regulatory and Loan Policy requirements
Demonstrate behaviors which are aligned with the Bank's culture and core values

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
In-depth understanding of business tax returns, personal tax returns, and financial statements. Ability to analyze in depth trends in financial statements including balance sheet, P&L and cash flow analysis.
Experience in Loan Vantage is a plus
Understanding of real estate trends and market conditions
High level of knowledge with Microsoft Word/Excel and Outlook
Ability to work closely with managers, lenders, staff and third-party vendors
Ability to identify issues with Structure/signs of weakness in new and existing loan relationships
Ability to manage workflow in a timely manner and multi-task

Preferred Education and Experience:
Minimum five to seven years' experience with commercial underwriting, including but not limited to CRE, C&I and cash flow deals
Bachelor's degree in business or finance
Knowledge of Credit related laws
Knowledge of real estate market and trends
Knowledge of various business industries
