ITG is responsible for the development and implementation of HCA's Expanse electronic health record (EHR). The AVP of Expanse Standards is a member of the ITG Expanse leadership team reporting to the VP of EMR Implementations, with primary responsibility to manage HCA MEDITECH Expanse platform for the enterprise. The AVP of Expanse Standards is responsible for all Expanse application development oversight, maintenance and support of all Expanse applications, coordination with HCA divisions leadership, and oversight of the corporate change control governance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the strategy and development of HCA's standard inpatient, oncology, and post-acute EHR for Expanse.
  • Lead a team of directors, managers, lead analysts and developers through all phases of design, development, testing, and implementation of HCA's inpatient Expanse EHR.
  • Ensure EHR content and functionality is evidence based and/or supports HCA's clinical standards and operational agenda through research, analysis, and vetting.
  • Drive quality, efficiency, innovation, and scalability through EHR design and development.
  • Drive collaboration across HCA clinical and business units.
  • Provide strategic oversight, team management and coordination for a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Maintain accountability for project timelines and budget for all Expanse application teams.
  • Ensure executive leadership is informed of project status and facilitate decisions around EHR design and development.
  • Mentor and guide Senior Directors on best practices.
  • Contribute to the innovation and optimization of HCA's Expanse EHR.
  • Develop and execute on the HCA enterprise EHR application strategy
  • Actively recruit and develop application leadership and analyst talent
  • Develop and communicate criteria for optimization.
  • Build, deploy, and maintain an optimization process.
  • Facilitate market leadership updates for division and market executive leaders.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for application integrations into Expanse.
  • Lead the development, maintenance and change control process for all Expanse software enhancement and content changes.
  • Define standards for the enterprise for local dictionary builds.
  • Establish, review, and manage utilization metrics to measure adoption, implementation success and continuous improvement.
  • Establish mechanisms to allow program status reporting for all stakeholders across the enterprise.
  • Coordinates efforts across corporate departments and fourteen divisions on strategic enterprise application development and deployment.
  • Maintain project control manuals, policies, procedures and process flows.
  • Create and maintain the on-boarding process for product resources.
  • Proactively identify and resolve program level issues; manage the application change control process.
  • Provide quality assurance of overall implementation plans and tools along with the execution of those plans.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree - Required
  • Master's degree - Preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in a leadership role - Required
  • Experience in healthcare - Required
  • Experience with implementation of EHRs (MEDITECH, Epic, Cerner, etc) - Required
  • Travel required up to 25%
