This role is pivotal in driving financial planning, performance analysis, and strategic initiatives that enhance business profitability and operational efficiency. Beyond traditional financial reporting, you will lead actuarial transformation efforts, optimizing processes, systems, and outcomes to shape the future of the company's actuarial function.
This role requires a strong communicator who can collaborate across departments, including Actuarial, Finance, IT, and the CEO's office, to drive innovation, efficiency, and business impact. The ideal candidate is both an analytical thinker and a strategic influencer who can articulate and execute a clear vision for change while inspiring stakeholders at all levels.

What you will do
- Oversee financial results reporting, including QBR/QFR and key performance indicators (KPIs), providing insightful analysis to drive business decisions;
- Lead the development of financial forecasts, early performance indicators, and enhanced forecasting models;
- Drive innovation and transformation initiatives to enhance actuarial processes, financial modeling, and reporting efficiency;
- Spearhead strategic actuarial transformation initiatives, optimizing business insight and impact with a P&L-driven approach;
- Collaborate with pricing, valuation, and ALM teams to assess and report on business profitability, investment income, and capital performance;
- Lead financial planning (G&P process), ensuring alignment with business strategy and long-term goals;
- Build and nurture a high-performing team, attracting and developing top actuarial and financial talent;
- Champion a culture of change and continuous improvement, identifying inefficiencies and enhancing actuarial operations;
- Serve as a strategic partner to business and IT leaders, shaping efficient processes for valuation, modeling, forecasting, and reporting;
- Present complex financial and actuarial insights to executive leadership and the Board, influencing key business decisions.
What you will bring
- The education. Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) or Society of Actuaries (FSA) preferred. A CPA designation is an asset.
- The experience. 12+ years of experience in the insurance industry, with exposure to financial planning, risk management, actuarial functions, and strategic business initiatives. Proven leadership experience in driving transformation and change management, particularly within actuarial and financial operations. Experience leading high-performing teams, mentoring talent, and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability. Strong background in financial modeling, reporting, valuation, pricing, and profitability analysis.
- The skills. Strategic mindset with the ability to develop and communicate a compelling vision for actuarial transformation. Strong financial acumen, with expertise in analyzing business performance and driving data-driven decision-making. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience influencing executive leadership and Board members. Collaboration and stakeholder engagement, with a proven ability to build consensus across departments and drive alignment. Problem-solving and analytical abilities, capable of identifying inefficiencies and implementing scalable solutions.
- The knowledge. Deep understanding of the insurance industry, regulatory landscape, financial reporting requirements, and actuarial best practices. Familiarity with emerging trends, technology, and legislative developments impacting actuarial and financial functions.
