Title of Position: Assistant Vice President, Major Gifts

Purpose of this position:
The Assistant Vice President of Major Gifts is an experienced fundraising professional responsible for leading the major gifts program and overseeing a portfolio of high-value donors for Women in Need (Win). Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Development, the AVP of Major Gifts will develop and execute strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects and donors. The AVP is a strategic and visionary leader with strong written and verbal communication skills who can grow the major gifts program, secure transformational support to further Win's mission, and serve as the primary liaison with the Board of Directors to engage them in the major gifts program.

Key Accountabilities
Major Gifts Program Management:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive major gifts strategy to meet or exceed annual fundraising goals
- Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, implementing personalized engagement and solicitation plans
- Oversee the work of the Senior Director, Major Gifts and Manager, Individual Giving, providing direction, coaching, and performance management
- Collaborate with the VP of Development and SVP of Development to integrate major gifts activities with other fundraising initiatives
- Partner with the communications team to create compelling marketing and stewardship materials for major donors
Donor Cultivation, Solicitation, and Stewardship:
- Personally cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of high-value donors and prospects
- Serve as the primary liaison for the Win Board, supporting relevant Board committees, particularly the Development and Nominating committees, and providing regular updates on fundraising initiatives and progress
- Work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and other senior leadership to engage them in the major gifts program
- Identify, qualify, and develop strategies to engage new major gift prospects
- Ensure timely and meaningful acknowledgment, recognition, and stewardship of major donors
Strategic Planning and Reporting:
- Develop annual and long-term goals for the major gifts program, including revenue and activity targets
- Monitor program performance and provide regular progress reports to leadership
- Collaborate with the Development team to integrate major gifts into the overall fundraising strategy
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices
Essential Functions:

- Must have advanced knowledge of strategic planning, budgeting, donor relations and cultivation, metrics, and evaluation.

Qualifications:
- Commitment to Win's mission, vision, and values
- Bachelor's degree required
- 7+ years of experience in major gifts fundraising, with a proven track record of securing transformational gifts
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Proficient in the use of donor databases and fundraising software (e.g., Salesforce)
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
