Position Summary

The AVP of Business Intelligence will lead our BI team in executing our BI roadmap to strengthen data-driven decision-making across the credit union and build scalable, efficient analytical capabilities that support both current and future needs. This role will focus on optimizing our business intelligence and data analytics platforms to meet immediate execution goals while aligning with the broader organizational vision. Through a strategic blend of managed service partnerships and internal efforts, the AVP will ensure high-performance, sustainable analytics operations, positioning BI as a vital driver of operational insights, profitability, and a deeper understanding of member needs.

    • Provide operational leadership to the Business Intelligence team, ensuring alignment with the BI transformation roadmap and organizational objectives.
    • Drive the adoption of business intelligence across the enterprise, enabling departments to leverage analytics to meet business goals and improve member engagement.
    • Develop and enforce frameworks for data management and reporting standards to ensure consistent and reliable information delivery across the credit union.
    • Establish and manage a development lifecycle to support analytics requests, fostering a structured approach to meeting analytical needs.
    • Develop, monitor, and manage service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure high standards of responsiveness and quality in analytics support.
    • Manage the performance of managed service providers and cloud-based technology solutions, ensuring strong vendor relationships that align with organizational goals and standards.
    • Direct the development and execution of predictive analytics solutions to facilitate data-driven insights that support product profitability, growth strategies, and member experience improvements.
    • Continuously evaluate and improve BI and data analytics platforms, focusing on scalability, reliability, and alignment with the credit union's evolving needs.
    • Champion data literacy across departments, fostering a culture where data insights are readily accessible, understood, and applied in decision-making.
    • Coach, develop, and support the Business Intelligence team to foster a high-performing, collaborative environment where each role contributes strategic value aligned with organizational growth objectives.
    • Oversee and manage the budget for the Business Intelligence team, ensuring expenditures align with the approved financial plan, and approve invoices within authorized limits.

Education

Bachelor's degree required, with a preferred focus in Data Science, Business Analytics, Information Technology, or a related field.

Oracle Analytics Cloud Certification (required upon hire or within an established timeframe after hiring) to ensure proficiency with our analytics platform.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics, or related fields, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.

Preferred: Experience working with managed services and BI platforms, with an understanding of implementation best practices and vendor management.

  • Technical Knowledge: Proficient understanding of BI platforms, data management, cloud-based solutions, and analytics tools, with experience in applying a software development lifecycle (SDLC) approach to analytics requests.
  • Vendor and Partnership Management: Skilled in overseeing managed service partnerships, maintaining effective vendor relationships, and ensuring alignment with organizational standards.
  • Communication & Influence: Exceptional skills in stakeholder communication, able to advocate for BI initiatives and align cross-functional goals.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making: Skilled in navigating complex decisions, particularly in high-stakes technology implementations and vendor evaluations.

  • Project & Resource Management: Proficient in managing multiple BI projects, allocating resources efficiently, and achieving strategic and operational goals.
