Job Summary and Qualifications

The Assistant Vice President (the "AVP") of HCA Research Clinical Operations provides operational and strategic leadership to the HCA Healthcare research Institute network of sites and is responsible for site leadership, colleagues and operations. The AVP collaborates with, Chief Scientific Officer, HRI leadership, Service Line leadership and key stakeholders' enterprise-wide including Group, Division, and Facility leaders to advance organizational strategy. The AVP manages HRI site operations, research colleagues, and reports to the VP of Research. The AVP supports research strategy for service lines, non-therapeutic large scale trials, and strategic opportunities in areas such as cardiovascular, neurology, orthopedics, women's and children's, behavioral health, nontherapeutic large scale trials to advance the mission. In partnership with the Vice President of Research, develops and implements operations strategies, promotes operational standard processes, and ensures the research services are coordinated across HCA Healthcare.

Major Responsibilities:

• Works closely with the Vice President of Research to provide administrative direction for the research operations of HCA Healthcare research institute network of sites, and to ensure the strategies, priorities, and operations of all assigned research sites are aligned to HCA Healthcare service lines and strategy.
• Assists in developing and executing HCA Research Institute site operational strategy.
• Works with HCA Research Institute leadership to provide administrative direction for the operations of the organization across the HCA Healthcare footprint.
• Provides operational oversight, leadership and direction in the execution and management of trials
• Oversees clinical trial related activities completed/performed by the research staff to ensure completeness and accuracy as well as adherence to federal and state guidelines
• Develops, implements, and evaluates current and future potential research programs
• Promotes the recruitment, retention, and continuing education of the HRI research colleagues
• Collaborates with HRI leadership team, hospital administrative teams, service line leadership, and physicians to implement the HCA Research Institute strategy to ensure high quality and efficient services while promoting growth
• Assess processes across the organization associated with trial execution and identifies ways to improve and streamline internal procedures
• Collaborates with assigned research administrative site leaders, practice administrative leaders, hospital administration, physician leaders, and HCA leaders to implement the research strategy ensuring high quality and efficient services while promoting growth
• Communicates regularly and routinely with the Vice President of Research concerning enrollment, budget, program challenges, and quality while highlighting risks and suggested courses of action pertinent to the efficient operation of the research
• Partners with the Chief Scientific Officer, Sr. Director of Business Development and Director of Operations for operations insight on strategic partnership opportunities
• Collaborates with Research Service Line Directors for operations updates, impact, and capacity, areas of opportunity across service lines, physician support, and growth.
• Responsible to identify and develop new locations to participate in research across the enterprise to support the organizational research strategy.
• Partners with legal to outline contract needs, compensation models, and operations impact related to research legislation.
• Explores scalable, innovative solutions to solve organizational research operational services, and clinical trials challenges.
• Effectively advance corporate goals of the HCA Research Institute with regards to the HCA community assuring a positive presence and promoting quality research.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree required
• 5+ years of experience in clinical research or service line management required
• 7+ years of experience in related area required

Licenses, Certifications, & Training:

• Registered Nurse (RN) - currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state in which he or she practices, in accordance with law and regulation preferred
• Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certification required
