Description:

Together, the AVP of Interior Architecture and SVP of Design Innovation play key role in creating, adapting and leading standards across all ESL brands. This individual will manage 3rd party design firms from programming to design development to project submittals including FFE. The AVP of Interior Architecture acts as a NexCore brand ambassador by directing design, innovation, and quality. This individual acts as the subject matter expert in the Interior design and planning of senior living facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Creates and plans the conceptual interior of senior living projects in coordination with the design team.
  • Client-facing company representative, builds relationships with prospective and current clients, works as the company's interior design expert to actualize the project vision of the company and the client.
  • Develops a comprehensive understanding of programmatic requirements, standards, and policies for incorporation into the interior solution.
  • Contributes predevelopment planning process through the optimization of blocking and stacking plans, architect selection, Interior Design Selection, brand standard dissemintation to the deisng teams and quality control through the design process.
  • Works closely with the development and operations teams to reach consensus on design layout.
  • Coordinates the work effort of multiple planning teams on large projects.
  • Works closely with the internal entitlements and construction teams to schedule and develop agendas for user group meetings.
  • Develops, modifies and/or reviews planning concepts and design solutions.
  • Applies governing regulatory codes and assisted living licensing standards, and valudates that those requirements for assigned segment of projects are met.
  • Prepares and modifies implementation documents and communicates planning concepts for project team members, both verbally and through graphic and written reports.
  • Leads project team interaction internally and externally to effectively understand and implement design solutions and project plans from conceptual design to design execution.
  • Conceptualize building interiors, select materials, art, and furnishings. Works with design team to ensure submittals are within brand standards during early construction phase.
  • Maintains current knowledge of trends and materials, techniques, and other developments in interior design and architecture.
  • Actively promotes and incorporates the firm's brand through the integration of responsible and sustainable design, while balancing the introduction of unique design characteristics that align with a unique building and/or region.
  • Create and define brand standards for the interior experience of our projects.
  • Collaborates with the Design and Construction team in managing project to satisfy requirements from budget and schedule perspective while delivering a quality work product.
  • Supports the business development process by assisting with proposals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

Education:
  • Bachelors Degree in Interior Design or Architecture - Required

Experience:
  • 10+ years experience with design, planning, and Interior Design of Senior Living and Hospitality projects - Required

Skills:
  • Experience with architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling software (SketchUp or other) required
  • Proficient knowledge of guidelines for design and construction of healthcare and hospitality facilities
  • Advanced knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into implementation documents
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner both verbally and in writing
  • Strong visual design skills including color theory and aesthetics
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Licenses and Certifications:
  • Interior Design or Architectural Registration
  • Sustainable design accreditation
  • ACHA, EDAC, LEED, LEAN, WELL experience or certification

Benefits
  • Compensation: $120,000 - $140,000 / year
