Leavitt Pacific Insurance Brokers in San Jose, CA is looking to add a Benefits Account Manager to their busy office. This is a hybrid/remote opportunity which would require one to be in office on Tuesday & Thursday and M-W -F at home.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary function of this position is managing the overall relationship with assigned clients
Day to day client support
o Responsible for the ongoing service of assigned accounts, including, but not limited to the following:
Maintaining client files (in accordance with department standards)
Maintaining all required client information in agency client systems (Benefit Point, shared documents folder; etc.)
Employee Q and A (educational meetings for employees on benefits)
Claims resolution
Billing reconciliation
Renewal Presentations & Market Research
Client Executive Meetings & Consultation
Open Enrollment meetings
o Compliance Support
Remain current on and comply with policies, procedures, laws, and regulations which have an impact on agency benefits operations and service standards.
Handle and manage incoming client service calls and subsequently satisfy and resolve any issues therein. If the issues invoked exceed account representative's authority, the issues are to be quickly referred to the appropriate account/sales executive or manager for advice or resolution
Renewal Checklist & Process
Open Enrollments, including coordination of meetings with carriers and vendors
Benefits Guide, or other custom client communications
COBRA / FSA / HRA / Value Adds - introduce and assist in implementation
Wellness Programs and Health Fair - coordinate, prepare for, and present
o Health Screening / Flu Shot Clinics
o 12 Month Health Campaign
Employee / Employer Surveys to identify employee satisfaction of benefit package and other products desired
Benefit Timeline Maintenance
Carrier product education
Analyzing and evaluating existing coverages and client business objectives
Using independent judgment and applying insurance expertise and knowledge to determine what benefits and plan terms would best suit a particular client's needs and budget
Advising clients about recommended coverages
Reviewing and approving RFPs
Selecting appropriate markets and marketing coverage
Marketing coverage and negotiating with carriers on behalf of clients
Analyzing market proposals for verification of benefits, premiums and competitiveness
Reviewing insurance and administrative contracts for accuracy
Meeting with clients to discuss pre-renewal strategy & timing
Conducting or coordinating client open enrollment meetings and answering questions about
benefits and coverage
Managing implementation of new plans and carriers for clients
Preparing, or ensuring team prepares, claims experience reports and utilization reports, and ensuring accuracy of reports
Meeting with clients as needed or desired, and as requested by Producer/ Broker
Make inquiries with group clients for cross selling opportunities
Meet and review options with new group prospects
All other job duties as assigned to successfully support the Benefits department
The second function of this position is to work with Producers/ Brokers to develop new business and to retain existing business, including:
Developing new accounts, quoting new business coverages, maintaining existing accounts,
Remarketing renewals and negotiating with carriers on behalf of clients,
Determining which carriers to submit new RFPs
Creating insurance proposals for customers
Help problem solve any issues with new or existing accounts
Screen group leads received and handle as needed
Assist with developing and implementing marketing strategies
Report New and Lost Business to Sr. VP of Employee Benefits and Financial Services
Provide back up to benefits staff who are out of the office
All other job duties as assigned to successfully support the Benefits department
The Employee Benefits Account Executive also collaborates with Management in the developing, writing and/or rewriting, of agency procedures and marketing plans.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervision of other employees will include assisting in team building, training, and oversight of department procedures and checklists.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Education - Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience - Minimum 6 years insurance agency experience as an Employee Benefits Account Manager or Producer/ Broker, preferably 10+ years. Manage small and large group renewals.
Must have the proven ability to prioritize work and assignments, work independently, pay attention to detail, anticipate issues and then be proactive in solving those issues, multi-task,
and must be customer service oriented, use good follow-up skills, and be a team player
LANGUAGE SKILLS
You must be able to read, write and verbally communicate using the English and Spanish language
The ability to read, prepare, analyze and interpret documents related to the insurance industry
and various software applications utilized by the industry is required
You must be able to communicate information and respond to situations (verbally and in written form) effectively with clients, insurance company personnel, agency staff, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community
Must be able to effectively prepare and present information to top management, customers, and public groups
Bilingual in Spanish is helpful but not mandatory
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
You must be able to perform basic math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
The position requires that you compute rate, ratio, and percent as well as calculate discounts, commissions, and percentages
You must be able to apply mathematical operations as noted above to agency related practical
situations
COMPUTER SKILLS
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe or Nitro PDF and PowerPoint
REASONING ABILITY
Must be able to prioritize work for multiple projects and deadlines
Must be able to recognize and solve client problems that are related to their insurance policies;
and be capable of collecting underwriting information and determining the appropriate company for account placement
Must be able to assist in claims problem solving
Must have good leadership, problem solving and time management skills
You must possess conflict resolution abilities with openness to change
