Mission or Goal of Unit: Multidisciplinary research in translational,clinical, and implementation science in Sickle Cell Disease.
Chief Purpose of this position: The Department ofInternal Medicine, Division of General Medicine, and Virginia CommonwealthUniversity seeks a mid-career behavioral research scientist to join a leadingmultidisciplinary program in biopsychosocial translational, clinical, andimplementation science in sickle cell disease. The selected candidate will collaborate withand be mentored by 2 physicians, 3 Nurse Practitioners, and a staff ofprofessionals conducting daily case management rounds including social workersand community health workers in the Adult Sickle Cell Medical Home, as well as 3Physicians, a Physician's assistant, and a staff of allied health professionalsin the Pediatric Sickle Cell Program.
Position Responsibilities: Research | Submitting and executing federal, foundation, and other research proposals and generating new knowledge derived from working with diverse and disenfranchised adult patients with Sickle Cell Disease.

Required Qualifications:
- PhD orequivalent terminal degree
- Demonstrated postdoctoral research training
- Commitment to a careerin sickle cell research
- Experienceworking with diverse and disenfranchised communities
- Must havedemonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, andstudent environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
- Credentials to deliverclinical psychology counseling and therapy
- Teaching experience with graduatestudents and post-doctoral students
