Position Summary:
LAFCU's Branch Manager I Oversees the day-to-day branch operations in the consumer loans/operations areas. The position ensures excellent service is provided to Members and Non-Members visiting the branch. Provides information and promotes credit union products and services to build relationships. Manages assigned staff while providing training, coaching, development, and motivation to accomplish the overall goals of the branch and credit union. This role is a full time, exempt management position in Branch Operations and reports to the AVP of Branch Operations.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Ensures the efficient operation of assigned Branch by overseeing all branch functions that include, consumer loans, Real Estate, new accounts, specialty accounts and teller functions.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and to keep employees informed of credit union programs and policies. Communicate management's decisions and directives to staff in a positive and effective manner. Prepare and distribute minutes to staff and management within (5) five business days of the meeting.
  • Coach, develop, motivate, and evaluate staff on a regular basis. Ensure performance reviews are completed and administered timely.
  • Train and implement new and existing credit union programs and procedures to improve the operations of the Branch.
  • Make recommendations to the AVP, Branch Operations regarding any disciplinary actions, as necessary. Requires good oral and written communication skills. Ability to retain operating policies of the credit union.
  • Strives to accomplish the goals and objectives of the branch and credit union. Submit monthly goal results to management by the 5th business day each month.
  • Audit account maintenance reports to ensure accuracy, efficiency and proper internal controls are being adhered to.
  • Periodically review and audit branch work to ensure compliance with regulations, practices, and security measures.
  • Review invoices for any items relating to the branch, as outlined in the expense approval procedures.
  • Report fraud accounts immediately to Risk Management, AVP of branch operations and Sr. VP of Member Experience.
  • Ensure proper opening and closing procedures are always followed.
  • Work with marketing department on business development efforts to grow business (may include business site visits).
  • Delivers excellent member service face-to-face and by phone to Members and Non-Members alike, with a professional and pleasant attitude always.
  • Contributes to a positive work environment and LAFCU's image by maintaining courteous and respectful interaction, teamwork, and effective communication with employees and members, to enhance positive behaviors and employee satisfaction.
  • Communicate as appropriate and in a timely manner with AVP of Branch operations related to work challenges such as employee issues, member problems, comments or suggestions or any branch related items requiring immediate attention.
  • Understand all products and services offered by the credit union and its subsidiary, City of Los Angeles Insurance Services (COLA), and oversee the marketing of these products and services effectively to members.
  • Understand and adhere to TQM/QSS, credit union policies, procedures, safety practices, security measures, and federal and state rules, regulations and official commentaries relating to one's work. Recommend changes to policies and procedures to continuously improve member service and increase productivity utilizing TQM/QSS tools.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all members' accounts and records.
  • Ensure staff follows off-line procedures, ensuring every transaction form is completed legibly with member's printed name, account number, signature, etc.
  • Stay informed on all laws, regulations, and operating guidelines that may affect the operation of the branch to ensure compliance.
  • Resolve member's inquiries or complaints in a timely, accurate and professional manner. Ensure correspondence to or from members and/or to staff is completed in a professional manner. Proper use of grammar is essential.
  • Keep abreast of updated Operations procedure manuals on the Wizard.
  • Maintain a supply of Instant Issue ATM/Debit cards, and temporary checks.
  • Analyze all forms, disclosures, flyers and brochures to ensure their effectiveness, as well as compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Recommend changes, including organizational structures, and/or new programs to improve the credit union's financial stability, and/or member services. Submit annual budget with recommendation.
  • Perform special assignments, projects, reports and duties as directed by the AVP of Branch Operations and/or Senior management. Requires ability to research, retain, format and analyze information.
  • Adhere to security equipment procedures and work with the Facilities Manager to maintain and secure video footage data of Branch camera surveillance.
  • Will comply with all Bank Secrecy Act requirements.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for staff and reporting any unsafe conditions to the VP of Branch Operations, AVP of Administration/Facilities, as outlined in the safety procedures.
  • Perform duties of Assistant Treasurer, including endorsement guarantees, signatures of credit union checks and real estate documents.
  • Ensure Notary Public and Medallion services are available for credit union and member transactions, whenever possible.
  • Work at other LAFCU branches as assigned by the AVP of Branch Operations, Sr. VP of Member Experience or COO.
  • Manage staff as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • High School or equivalent, with B.A. or B.S. degree in related field or equivalent preferred. Strong sales and member services skills. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in managing a branch, such as a bank or credit union. Strong knowledge of branch/credit union operations with strong technical abilities. Comprehensive knowledge of applicable laws and regulations governing personnel, operations, and lending, including real estate.
  • Strong work ethic and self-starter and adapt to change within a fast-paced business environment. Friendly and professional. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Exemplary leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively train and motivate employees. The drive to work collaboratively with other people and departments to maintain high levels of member service and productivity. The ability to handle multiple priorities and projects simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships with management and staff. Problem solving and decision-making skills. Ability to exercise good judgment. Ability to provide internal support for escalated member issues related to products and services.

Salary
  • The minimum and maximum base salary range for this position is $71,577.02 to $90,890.70 in California.
  • This compensation and benefits information is based on Los Angeles Federal Credit Union's good faith estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future.
  • The starting base salary within the range will depend on a variety of factors that may include relevant prior experience and/or education, or skills and expertise.
