The Town of New Canaan is seeking applicants for the position of Budget and Financial Systems Manager. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for the preparation, review and control of the Town's Operating and Capital Budgets (All Funds). Prepares, administers, analyzes, and monitors operating and capital budgets for all facilities and departments and in addition, monthly financials and management of financial systems. The position requires interaction with department heads, elected officials, and members of the public. Reports to the Board of Selectman, Board of Finance, and Town Council every month.

Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree and a strong knowledge of municipal budgeting and governmental accounting. The Budget Manager will be required to exercise considerable independent judgment in administering and managing department budgets and is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control. This is a hands-on position and the individual must be available for evening Board and Council meetings. This person must have excellent presentation skills and strong knowledge of the Munis System is preferred. Proficient in Microsoft products, particularly Excel.
