Position Summary:
Controlled Air Inc. is actively seeking a Building Automation Manager that will oversee and lead the controls department, ensuring operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and long-term growth. This role requires a seasoned professional with a proven track record in project management, team leadership, and process optimization in the building automation industry.
Job Functions:
Leadership and Team Development:
Provide overall leadership for the controls team, establishing clear goals and offering mentorship to maximize team potential.
Supervise and evaluate personnel, fostering an environment of professional growth and accountability.
Conduct regular team meetings to align objectives, processes, and project updates.
Partner with management to ensure proper staffing levels and succession planning.
Operational Management:
Create and execute strategies to improve departmental efficiency and profitability, including introducing and implementing industry best practices and innovative processes.
Manage project workflows to meet schedules, budgets, and quality standards, ensuring that customer expectations are consistently exceeded.
Oversee field operations, providing guidance to the field superintendent and ensuring effective communication between project managers and field staff.
Perform site visits as required to support project success and address challenges in real-time.
Project and Financial Oversight:
Develop accurate project estimates and forecasts, providing monthly progress updates on project profitability and status.
Monitor and manage Work-in-Progress (WIP) statistics and present findings at monthly financial meetings.
Create and enforce margin structures for the division, regularly analyzing sales and margins to address potential declines proactively.
Collaborate with the sales team to drive revenue growth and secure new business opportunities through networking, client engagement, and bid development.
Customer Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, delivering high-quality solutions tailored to their needs.
Ensure timely and effective communication of project progress, system updates, and issue resolution.
Promote customer satisfaction by overseeing training and delivering accurate as-built documentation.
Safety and Compliance:
Develop and enforce safety practices and hazard communication plans, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Actively review job site safety measures and provide training to mitigate risks.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages subordinates in the controls department as staffed and approved by the Company. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and profit and loss of the controls department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizational goals. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and getting employees trained, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and promotions; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
A strong work ethic with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience).
Minimum of 5 years in management roles within the HVAC, building automation, or controls industry.
Certifications such as PMP or OSHA 30 are preferred.
