Job Description
The CIMA+ offices in Western Canada are in the middle of a large growth trajectory. This means new, exciting complex projects that you will have the ability to shape and be a part of. We are actively looking for people who want to develop their skillsets, take on new challenges, and advance their careers within the organization.
We are currently looking for an Building Energy Modelling Professional specializing in sustainable design, building efficiency and energy simulation. This role will work on energy modelling, estimate building energy use intensity (EUI) and collaborate with the mechanical and electrical design teams on energy and GHG emissions reduction measures.
CIMA+'s Buildings team is renowned for designing high-quality, energy-efficient buildings, while prioritizing user comfort. Several of our projects have won awards in various competitions. With a constant desire to offer our customers the best possible service, we have set up a team of specialists dedicated to high-performance projects to support our customers and design teams across Canada.
Qualifications
The expected salary for this position is $85000 - $95000 and based on the richness and diversity of the candidate's experience, training, skills and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.

- Conduct building energy simulations, energy modeling, and carbon emissions analysis to support sustainable design and operational improvements.
- Develop energy models in compliance with National and Provincial Energy Codes and relevant green building certification standards.
- Identify and recommend energy conservation measures for both short- and long-term decarbonization strategies for existing buildings.
- Propose strategies to optimize energy performance, indoor air quality, and thermal comfort in new construction projects.
- Prepare detailed technical reports outlining energy analysis findings and recommendations.
- Present insights and recommendations to clients, project teams, and stakeholders to guide informed decision-making.
- Prepare documentation to support NECB performance compliance and regulatory submissions.
- Provide technical support and verification for projects seeking green building certifications such as LEED, Zero Carbon Building, and BOMA BESt.
- Perform life-cycle cost analyses to assess the financial feasibility of various energy conservation measures.
- Conduct energy and water audits for existing buildings, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Building Engineering, Building Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in energy modeling and building performance analysis
- Proficiency in energy simulation software such as IES-VE, eQUEST, EnergyPlus, and RETScreen Expert
- Strong background in sustainable development, energy-efficient system design, energy simulation, energy management, and grant/incentive programs
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
