Position Summary
This position is for someone interested in providing proactive, strategic and hands-on leadership for biomedical research building operations for the bench research teams and administrators who accomplish their work at the MaineHealth Institute for Research's (MHIR) flagship location in Scarborough, ME. This role provides support and acts as a liaison for a wide variety of operational and professional activities with a large number of internal and external constituents around building and equipment maintenance, capital purchasing, building safety, risk management & security, improvements, cost-containment, and deliveries. This Operations Manager is also responsible for leadership, direction, and engagement of a small team of colleagues.
Under the general direction of the Director of Research Operations, this Operations Manager will have responsibility for data-driven planning, communicating, and reporting on building operations goals, workflows, and budgets.
This position is based on-site at our 81 Research Drive, Scarborough, ME location, and will have a more minimal scope of responsibilities at several of our other research sites. This incumbent will be part of an on-call team, responding to building operations issues as they arise overnight and on weekends.
The work is diversified, requiring independent decisions within a broad scope of standard operating practices (SOPs) and precedent. This position is expected to resolve problems of varying nature with minimal direction and in cooperation with the MHIR Leadership Team.
Skills and characteristics that are critical to this role include: operations management, professionalism, verbal and written communication skills, project management skills, timeliness, flexibility, comfort with Microsoft Office software applications, and an interest in supervising others.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Education: Requires Master's in business, administration or related field; or BA in business or bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years in high-level project management, and proven leadership in the development and deployment of business strategies. Significant experience in marketing, finance, project management and strategic business planning required. License/Certification: N/A Experience: Background experience in clinical setting is preferred; Minimum of 5 years in management experience; possesses a high level of managerial and organizational skills; ability to supervise and support employee performance. Highly skilled in all Microsoft Office applications. Proven problem solving skills, and an acumen in business/financial management as well as data collection and analysis. High level of written and verbal communication skills required.
