We are searching for the best talent for the Business Compliance Lead, located in Toronto, ON, Canada. The Business Compliance Lead will have the opportunity to collaborate with Therapeutic Area Business Partners and provide strategic mentorship on business partner engagement activities or funding requests that have health care compliance-related implications. The role will provide advice to business owners to ensure the business is aware of any compliance risks and work with them to mitigate these risks.
You will be responsible for:
- Responsible for operationalizing the review of business activities involving Health Care Provider (HCP)/ Health Care Organization (HCO) value transfers, such as Advisory Boards, Consulting, Steering Committees, Other Learning Activities, International Conference Health Sponsorships, Sponsorships, Medical Education Grants, Fellowships and ensure that activities align with company policies and procedures including the Healthcare Compliance Guidance Documents for Value transfer activities, IMC code standards and applicable Health Canada Guidance and regulations.
- With support from HCC, providing guidance, policy interpretations and recommendations relating to business activities.
- With support from HCC, perform risk assessment mitigation process and advising Business Management of potential compliance risk areas and recommended action plans.
- Anticipate potential problems and proactively take appropriate steps.
- Coordinate the creation of appropriate tracking mechanisms based on problem identification; With support from HCC, support colleagues in navigating evolving Health Care Compliance (HCC) environment.
- Collaborate with HCC to assess compliance-related educational needs and facilitate compliance training programs for all employees, agents, affiliated providers, or others working with the Business.
- Ensure accountability for compliance through risk assessment, problem identification, corrective action, controls implementation, oversight & monitoring, investigation and follow-ups in alignment with relevant HCC processes and systems.
- Provide vendors with process direction as required.
- Document, raise, and approve deviations from SOPs while collaborating with internal teams to develop corrective action plan.
- Implement continuous process improvement to increase business efficiency and react to global process changes in a unified manner.
- Effective partnerships to implement solutions - Partner effectively with business partners to meet the needs of the business in line with SOPs.
- Lead regular monitoring report presentations to HCC and Leadership teams.
- Regularly meet with HCC to align on activity reviews or required process changes.
- Lead revisions to reference documentation or SOPs.
- Represent Business Compliance interests in departmental meetings.
Qualifications
Education:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree required (Science, Business, Ethics & Compliance, or Healthcare)
- Advanced degree preferred
Experience and Skills:
Required:
- A minimum of 8 years of business-related experience required.
- 5 years of experience in the healthcare industry with knowledge of Health Care Compliance programs and policies, Health Canada guideline/policies, and IMC code requirements required.
- Consistent track record of working in a collaborative environment with demonstrated evidence of maintaining relationships and partnerships with peers and business partners.
- Broad business experience and a proven ability to influence business decisions and business partners.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and trends and communicate complex information to all levels of the company required.
- Qualified candidates will have an engaging and personable demeanor; be self-directed, detail-oriented, and motivated; demonstrate a high level of accountability, leadership, and decisiveness and the ability to prioritize, and execute on multiple and frequently changing priorities.
- Knowledge of commercial Sales, Marketing and Medical Affairs practices for healthcare products.
- Experience working in a matrix environment to deliver solutions which drive compliant growth.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity.
- Ability to understand and apply process to various scenarios.
- Other key skills include attention to detail, being able to work optimally within a team, and able to prioritize tasks.
Preferred:
- Proficient in French, reading and writing
- Experience working with the governmental regulatory bodies and managing HCC company policies
- CCEP accreditation
- Experience working as an HCC or GCC Officer or Manager
- Experience developing and implementing one or more elements of a compliance program in accordance with an organization's risk profile
