JOB SUMMARY & OBJECTIVES
The Manager - Client Teams is responsible for working with Chief Business Development Officers, Business Development Directors and Firm lawyers to proactively provide and coordinate strategic and practical client development, client relationship management and service delivery support for a group of priority Client Teams.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage a select number of Client Teams (depending on size/complexity of clients), including: help to identify and implement strategies and tactics to expand into new areas of service, improve client satisfaction and grow client revenues; help to develop and execute on short and longer-term priorities/goals, action items, benchmarks, monitor related growth strategies and initiatives, track and monitor financial performance, etc. for such Client Teams
Ensure that each Client Team is managed and run in accordance with best practice client account processes and work with lawyers and other administrative departments to successfully execute on projects related to the Client Teams
Manage/oversee the lifecycle of strategic initiatives and tactical efforts to support client-wide business development and marketing, including: pitches, Requests for Proposals, events, research, other communications projects and other related efforts
Conduct strategic research to identify future sources of business and identify resources to develop content by analyzing legal filings, market conditions and industry trends; and determining factors that will impact proposals
Lead complex projects to completion with minimal guidance, including anticipating obstacles, providing solutions; and minimizing downside risks
Generate work product of a multi-faceted nature where there is minimal precedent; including but not limited to: creating new pitch content, developing complex pricing proposals and detailed alternative fee arrangements, researching a transaction feature to identify deal precedents, developing a client targeting exercise or a substantive event concept
Conceptualize and successfully execute CLEs and other events that support Business Development objectives
Work with the Firm's PR/Communications resources to support public relations efforts, including media interaction, speaking engagements, business association networking, writing opportunities and media events
Manage and mentor junior team members, including managing their workflow and professional development
Proactively train and coach team members, flexing leadership style and identifying and addressing issues
Prepare and deliver annual performance appraisals for more junior team members, provide timely feedback on performance
Work to support, maintain and in some cases manage business development operations and systems, including the Firm's marketing technologies, databases, website and related applications and processes
Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION
REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree required preferably in marketing, communications or English
PREFERRED
J.D. or M.B.A. preferred but not required

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED
Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in managing teams and complex projects
Experience cultivating and managing client relationships
Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing complex projects
Exemplary communication skills, both verbal and written, with a keen ability to effectively present information and communicate with individuals at all levels of the Firm
Demonstrates initiative beyond own work function
Ability to use sound judgment to make decisions and remain calm under pressure
Ability to proactively identify and analyze problems, develop solutions and deliver results
Collaborative, team-oriented approach to working with lawyers, multiple seniority levels and departments
Ability to anticipate the needs of the lawyers and those more senior on the team, flexing working and communication styles accordingly to proactively develop & promote effective and positive working relationships
Ability to proactively manage role for oneself and to develop strong relationships with all team members - those more junior, peers and those more senior; possesses a high level of emotional intelligence
Ability to maintain a high level of customer service, diplomacy and discretion
Strong project management skills in managing substantive area(s) or function(s); is able to manage the lifecycle of a project with minimal guidance and anticipates obstacles to projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment
Strong attention to detail
Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Flexibility to adapt to all work situations and work varied hours
PREFERRED
5 years working in a law firm environment, managing teams and complex projects
Demonstrated knowledge of the private equity industry is strongly preferred

Salary Information

NY, Boston, DC Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $180,000 to $220,000 at the time of posting.

The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
