About the Role

Technology is a strategic priority for the firm, and we are seeking a Business Development (BD) Manager - Data & Technology Transactions to help us further realize the potential of our global platform. Like our tech clients, the BD Manager will support the lifecycle of BD activities, with a focus on opportunities that build our brand and presence in the market, highlight our technology expertise, and integrate our full suite of service offerings to client relationships. The BD Manager is an integral part of Latham's BD team and will work in close partnership with BD colleagues, attorneys, and various departments across the firm. This role will be located in either our New York or Boston office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of the lawyers and clients in the Data & Technology Transactions Practice in order to drive strategic priorities, including client engagement and relationship building
  • Supporting the implementation of business development tactics and initiatives in alignment with the strategic objectives of practices, markets, relevant industry sectors, and/or clients as assigned
  • Aiding in the execution of cross-selling strategies, including collaborating with relevant BD teams
  • Providing research, analysis, and reporting to support the identification and development of new clients and the enhancement of existing client relationships
  • Collaborating with lawyers, BD, and Brand & Communications teams on speaking opportunities, seminars and sponsorships, webinars, and other visibility initiatives
  • Developing internal communications to inform relevant practice and industry groups of significant achievements, developments, and market synergies
  • Assisting with the creation and maintenance of written marketing materials and website content, including practice profiles and relevant experience lists
  • Project managing and drafting submissions for legal directories and related industry guides
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains


We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • Display knowledge of core marketing principles, including internal communications, public relations, seminar/event planning, branding, market research, competitive intelligence, credential, and RFP response preparation
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership skills (i.e., organizing, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making) necessary for effective management
  • Possess well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm


And have:

  • A bachelor's degree or an equivalent
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible business development and marketing experience in legal/professional services

Pay Range

USD $140,000.00 - USD $165,000.00 /Yr.
