Job Title: Business Development Manager

Reports to: Executive Director of Business Development

FLSA Status: EXEMPT

Schedule: Monday through Friday (8:00a to 5:00p) extended hours may be required to support business needs

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Implement sales strategy and utilize technical sales experience in automotive metal stamping, laser, press brake, roll forming, welding, and machining applications.
  • Identify new customers who might benefit from our Company capabilities and/or products.
  • Identify new sales opportunities with existing customers.
  • Develop strategic marketing plans promoting Modineer's technical capabilities directed at target markets.
  • Develop strategies that effectively offer products or services that best satisfy customer needs in terms of quality, price, and delivery while maintaining focus on Company objectives.
  • Meet regular sales targets and effectively coordinate sales projects.
  • Develop, and maintain, customer relationships by managing and interpreting requirements, investigating complaints, developing solutions, and resolving the issues.
  • Prepare reports, make recommendations, and be comfortable delivering presentations to the Executive Management Team keeping them updated on issues and trends.
  • Must demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.


  • Education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge:

  • Bachelor of Science required.
  • 5 years of proven, technical sales experience in steel/aluminum fabrication.
  • Have established relationships within the automotive-component manufacturing, defense, heavy agriculture, heavy truck, and heavy trailer industries including working knowledge and contacts.
  • Tier 1 and OEM experience with contract review and program management.
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of financial reporting and program metrics.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Organizational skills and ability to self-manage workflow completion to meet objectives.
  • Intermediate skills working with Microsoft Office products, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data and work with figures.
  • Solid judgement along with decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities.


  • Travel Requirements:

  • Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally, up to 50% of the time.
  • Must have a valid, active Passport.


  • Physical environment/working conditions:

    Works in an office/plant environment. The individual types at a computer on regular basis as well as communicating via telephone, vendors, customers and Plant Management on an as needed basis.

    Other (e.g., customer contact or access to confidential information):

    Must be able to work as part of a team. Must maintain confidentiality when working with the Executive Management/Plant Management Team on assignments.
