Job Summary:
SBM is seeking a analytical Business Development Manager to be responsible for developing customer-centric strategies to elevate our business for The Home Depot. This Business Development Manager will be providing timely data driven solutions that increase sales and secure new business. Additionally, this role will interact and communicate effectively with key decision influencers internally and externally and is perceived as a value-added partner. The BDM will also conduct market analyses, analyzing both product lines and the overall profitability of the business. In addition, they develop and monitor data quality metrics and ensure business data and reporting needs are met by creating a detailed business analysis, outlining problems, opportunities, and solutions.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Meet or exceed sales and profitability goals and growth of The Home Depot Channel (THD)
- Maintain and publish weekly sales information for internal team and ELT team
- Helps manage the day-to-day business with merchants/assistant merchants, inventory planning & replenishment, and other applicable internal & external team members
- Assist Marketing and Finance in building accurate proformas and budgets related to category initiatives.
- Develops and effectively sells and gains support for annual account listings, programs, promotional plans, and annual merchandising agreements
- Works cross functionally to ensure customer and internal business objectives are met
- Partners with Supply chain to drive enhanced service levels
- Directly works with forecasting team to ensure products are produced to meet customer expectations within timeline parameters
- Work with Marketing on category and new item penetration and initiatives; as well advertising and media programs
- Budget and effectively spend trade funds
- Plan and execute yearly customer promotional and in-store programs and events
- Provides ROI analysis and communicates efficiencies, results, and impact to the business
- Owns customer data maintenance - i.e., SKU set-up & product transitions
- Lead the development, presentation, and negotiation of all proposals including product line reviews, business reviews and rapid business reviews
- Assist in the coordination of activities executed by the SBM Brand Advocate
- Monitors the competitors' brands and products as well as our market share, competitor market share, and target market share to understand shopper trends and opportunities and communicates appropriate sales, CSP and brand management
- Leverage category and consumer insights to build customer-centric recommendations to sales growth
Qualifications:
Education:
- BA/BS degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field from an accredited university
Work Experience:
- Minimum 5+ years of direct and hands-on experience in sales, preferably on Home Depot or Hardware channel.
- Home center, mass merchant or independent hardware experience
- Previous experience working with Home Depot is highly desired.
- Consumer products industry, Lawn & Garden experience preferred
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong financial acumen, strong analytical skills, and ability to distill actionable insights from data.
- Strong understanding of regulatory and reporting requirements a
- High level knowledge and understanding working with Retailer POS system & metrics.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to influence senior management and work effectively with all departments.
- Ability to operate independently given direction and bring ideas and solutions to issues raised.
- Excellent negotiation, organizational and planning skills.
- An effective team player with leadership ability-able to listen effectively.
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
- Advanced PowerPoint skills ability to build effective presentations.
- Positive attitude, high energy level and bias for action.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment.
