SUMMARY:

Without the strength of our administration team, we would not be able to offer the industry-leading service we're known for. We're seeking an experienced Business Development Manager Professional. The ideal candidate will have proven industry experience as a Business Development Manager.

As a strong communicator and skilled hands-on Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for business development activities within their division including proposals/quoting, customer relationship management, business processes, and marketing support. Reports to the Karman Chief Business Development Office and Division President or Vice President responsible for sales.

KARMAN SPACE & DEFENSE: Karman is the market leading suppliers of metallic and composite flight hardware and sub-assemblies for the space, missile, and hypersonic markets. Karman offers an unprecedented capability set to customers, creating a supply chain solution in a historically fragmented supply base. The Karman team draws on in-house expertise in engineering & design, precision machining, large part forming, welding, heat age, finishing, assembly, ablative & insulative composites, and other capabilities to serve as a strategic partner to customers. Karman is headquartered in greater Los Angeles and currently has 5 locations in Southern California, 1 location in Mukilteo, Washington and 1 location in Wilsonville, Oregon.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Capture, 50%

  • Responsible for proposals and quotes including:


  • RFP/RFQ process and compliance
  • On-time submittal
  • Managing proposal/quoting teams
  • Document preparation as required.
  • Responsible for communication of business development activities within Karman Business Development team
  • Responsible for customer communication and meetings as required.
  • Supports business and customer strategies.


Business Development Processes, 30%
  • Responsible for business development documents, templates, tools and formats
  • Responsible for division proposal/quoting procedure
  • Responsible for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) data management


Customer Engagement & Marketing, 20%
  • Represents division to Karman Business Development team.
  • Attends customer meetings and industry events as required.
  • Supporting marketing team and is responsible for marketing content from their division.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Preferred Education: B.S. in related technical field or B.A. in Business or related field
  • Preferred Experience: 5+ years of experience in space and defense industry.
  • Additional Preferred Experience:
  • Experience managing teams and/or projects.
  • Experience with customer presentations.
  • Exposure to concept development, technology application, and program planning
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both written and spoken forms.
  • Ability to develop, plan and execute programs.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
