We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic business development professional to drive growth in the North American defense market and international for our Advanced Vetronics Systems (AVS) business. Our AVS team develops cutting-edge mission systems for advanced combat vehicle platforms, AI-enabled edge computing, ultra high resolution displays, ultra low latency video management, intelligent fire control and integrated 360 situational awareness.
In this role, you will identify and capture new business opportunities while growing existing accounts, build strong relationships with industry and government stakeholders, and lead strategic capture efforts to secure new business. Your ability to navigate the market, develop winning proposals, and work with interdisciplinary teams within our business will be key to our continued success.

Job Description

Your ability to navigate the market, develop winning proposals, and work with interdisciplinary teams within our business will be key to our continued success.
Your day to day in more detail:
- Meet with current and prospective customers to advance customer intimacy, improve market insight, and inform pursuit strategies.
- Capture market/industry trends, assess acquisition forecasts, and provide feedback on product/capability development.
- Document market/industry/customer trends and dynamics (e.g. via business forecasts, pursuit status reports, decision maker/influencer maps, competition intelligence briefings, industrial collaboration roadmaps, etc.) to support internal decision making.
- Develop and maintain a strong network within the defense industry.
- Assess collaboration opportunities and competitive threats in a complex market ecosystem.
- Oversee entire capture campaigns from start to finish (including analysis of requirements, assessment of competition, identification of customer budget constraints, and development of winning strategies and themes), ensuring compliance with corporate processes.
- Interface with relevant groups within the company to establish a smooth flow of information related to pursuits and to seek advice/input from others as required.
- Provide regular updates and insights for Business Development Meetings and corporate level strategic planning sessions, contributing to the development of AVS and company-wide strategies that align with senior leadership goals.
- Participate in the development, planning, and implementation of marketing and sales tools and activities such as trade shows, conferences, press releases, brochures, data sheets, white papers, briefings, etc.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years combined experience in a defense related industrial sector (technical, project or proposal management, or marketing/business development).
- Knowledge of international sales and procurement processes and cultures, with a focus on US defense market.
- Understanding of leading defense industry players and their capabilities.
- Demonstrated success and experience in customer-facing settings.
- Presentation/communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex content in a breakdown of concise chunks of information customized to the audience.
- A degree of technical competence gained through either an engineering/science background or through exposure to technical-intensive organizations in previous roles.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Desirable skills and experience that will help you succeed in this role:
- Ideally an understanding of ground combat platforms and vehicle electronics.
- Ideally prior working experience with structured capture/proposal processes (color team reviews, gate reviews, etc.).
- Ideally customer-facing experience in business development, proposal management, or capture leadership roles.
