Job Summary:

The Business Development Manager is responsible for generating new sales growth and opportunities for sundry products. This position partners with outside sales representatives and leadership to develop and implement sales strategies for increasing sundry sales and profits. In addition, this position requires staying up to date on current and new products, product features and benefits, and when necessary, training outside sales personnel on how to best sell and market products in their region.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a key customer/account sales strategy with the customers assigned outside sales representatives at the Dealers, General Contractors, and any commercial entities that can utilize TAS products.
  • Lead product training sessions and support the development of outside sales employees by encouraging product knowledge development and cross-training opportunities.
  • Participate in industry or promotional events (e.g., trade shows) to cultivate customer relationships.
  • Work in collaboration with Sales Force, Jim Partridge, Greg Szalay, Tony Christopher, branch managers and management, to initiate, manage and enhance growth opportunities.
  • Engage in entrepreneurial spirit to manage categories for measured profit opportunity and sales growth as benchmarked against previous year.
  • Create business plan, monitor quarterly- include budget, performance expectations and vendor strategies.
  • Collaborate with managers, departments and vendors to meet budget goals, inventory management, sales training and assistance in marketing support needs to implement successful sales plan.
  • Attend Trade shows and industry events to enhance new and existing relationships, meet and network new business opportunities and measure competition.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Tasks under above responsibilities:
  • Call on key dealers and manifest company relationships for sales success.
  • Attend Trade shows and industry events to enhance new and existing relationships, meet and network new business opportunities and measure competition
  • Work with outside sales team, Architectural teams, order desk and purchasing team- to help define market growth strategies, Train on product and set expectations of movement and benchmarks for measured success.
  • Follow up on claims and project inspections to promote category success.
  • Manage pricing, price column matrix , margins and vendor discounts
  • Negotiate volume and growth incentive rebates
  • Manage product strategy and sales process from Manufacturer- to purchasing -to operations - to branches and salesforce and throughput to satisfied customer
  • Attend at least 1 self improvement seminar each year to enhance personal skills and strategic thinking
  • Work with Jerry Randell / plan and project information and Gartman CRM to manage and track jobs, information and benchmarks
  • Utilize and be proficient in Gartman Software and to help develop a yearly budget that defines profit contribution, growth targets, resource allocation and measured goals

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience developing and leading teams in a retail sales-oriented environment.
  • 7-10 years of experience in wholesale distribution and field sales experience preferred.
  • Proficient working knowledge of ERP system (such as Gartman) AS400.


Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing at a counter, sitting at a desk, and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
  • Travel requirement 30%.
