Position Summary
The Business Development Officer (BDO) will play a vital role in enhancing public relations and increasing membership within the Credit Union's field of membership. This individual will be responsible for leveraging established programs to build new relationships and deepen existing partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and community members. The BDO will work collaboratively with internal partners, referring members to specialized services such as business banking, mortgage products, and institutional deposits to meet their financial needs. Additionally, the BDO will proactively engage with the community, helping individuals and businesses benefit from the Credit Union's products and services to foster financial wellness and growth within our membership base.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Additionally, the BDO will proactively engage with the community, helping individuals and businesses benefit from the Credit Union's products and services to foster financial wellness and growth within our membership base.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify, prospect, and establish new membership through external sales activities.
- Locate and propose potential business partnerships and work with management to plan business development activities that promote growth and achievement of goals.
- Understand the detailed features and benefits of all products and services available and present them in a professional manner.
- Meet assigned goals, including but not limited to, share, deposit, member business lending (MBL), mortgage, and consumer lending.
- Work collaboratively with internal partners to refer members to specialized services such as business services, mortgage products, and institutional deposits.
- Build and maintain relationships with key employers and businesses in the community.
- Promote Credit Union products, features, and benefits to current and potential member.
- Achieve specific business development goals, document activities, and prepare weekly and monthly reports as needed.
- Represent the Credit Union at various public functions and company-sponsored events to promote Credit Union products and services among current and potential members.
- Make onsite presentations, conduct financial education workshops, and distribute information to potential member groups to educate, increase awareness, and promote Credit Union products and services.
- Participate in and promote the Credit Union's community involvement efforts, seeking opportunities, recommending events, and scheduling and participating in all assigned events.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Five to eight years of business development experience.
- Minimum of three years of experience working at a financial institution.
- A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school equivalent to approximately 64 credit hours.
- Demonstrated track record of exceeding sales targets and achieving significant business growth.
- Assertive, competitive, self-starter, goal-oriented and results-driven with an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Highly self-motivated, creative and decisive with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organization and presentation skills and professional demeanor.
- Ability to facilitate and conduct financial education presentations to classroom sized groups.
- Excellent presentation skills and professionalism required
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of products: Word, Excel, Visio, Project, Outlook and Teams.
- This job is one that requires flexibility in work schedules which includes some evenings and Saturdays. Must be able to adjust daily schedule to not exceed 8 hours worked in a day without advanced authorization and notify the supervisor within one business day if overtime is incurred.
- Must have a valid, current driver's license.
