Overview
Emerald is seeking a Brand Director in New York responsible for the successful planning and execution of Advertising Week New York. This role plays a crucial management and co-ordination role, managing the overall event to ensure our New York flagship event (and any other events within the United States) are delivered on time, on budget and with potential to grow each year. This role will be the 'face' of the New York event for commercial partners, valued media and association partners and attendees.
The ethos of Advertising Week is 'Great Minds Think Unalike' and we look to think differently from other events, pushing the boundaries of educating our audiences while entertaining them. The New York show is our flagship event for the brand, and we are looking for someone with the vision to lead the brand into the future. The centralized global teams rely on the New York Brand Director to keep the overall event deadlines, planning, budget and execution on track.
This requires careful, detailed planning and close oversight of the flagship event to ensure this occurs. The New York Brand Director will work closely with centralized departments at Advertising Week to ensure any events are a success. The central team is matrixed across events and regions so this role requires a candidate with initiative and autonomy.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Target Compensation: $ 150,000-$170,000 (Bonus Eligible)
Please note that this range reflects a reasonable estimate of the target compensation for this position. This range may ultimately vary based on a candidate's qualifications and may be higher where required by applicable law.

Responsibilities:
- Being the 'face' of the brand within the local market. Serve as an ambassador to the industry and an evangelist for the brand.
- Cultivate relationships with key executives within the industry and relevant suppliers, distributors, buyers and press
- P&L responsibilities for the event(s)
- Working with team to ensure the event has a clear vision and business model
- Oversee the ultimate Run of Show and direct the relevant team(s) to produce the event
- Owning the overall deadlines for the event
- Identifying resourcing needs for the event and ensuring they are in place
- Managing event inventory and overseeing the deliverables for the event
- Oversee day-to-day processes regarding the event - i.e. run weekly brand meeting that includes all relevant departments.
- Listen to existing and prospective customers to understand their needs and identify how we can address them.
- Ensuring the delegate/attendee experience is impactful and differentiated
- Work with team and clients to identify strengths and weaknesses of current product offerings and develop initiatives to improve them for our customers (sponsors and attendees)
- Take a leading role in identifying new products and opportunities for event customers.
- Helping the commercial team build a year-round pipeline of new local commercial partners
- Leading the local advisory board, ensuring all participants are engaged and suitable
- Identifying market trends, news and focusing on differentiation from others in the market
- Develop comprehensive debriefs and defining actions to implement in the next event(s).
- Managing local trade association partnerships
- Strong communication with global team that works across many events.
- Lead the development of the yearly Brand Operating Plan
- Track team productivity, pacing and update sales and marketing campaigns with diligence.
- Maximize the spending of current customers and ensure team is prospecting for new business weekly.
- Assist assigned sales team in selling process when needed.
Qualifications:
- A proven record of accomplishment of delivering large scale events
- Experience of the marketing, advertising, technology or media industries
- Experience with virtual events, streaming and mobile apps
- Experience working with international teams across multiple time zones
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong numerical skills for reporting & budgeting
- Experience working with commercial partners
- Strong negotiation skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written skills. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of organization
